What are you wearing for Super Bowl activities tomorrow? And what are you doing?
I thought I was going to be watching it on TV alone, but the three people
I see regularly,wear masks and social distance with and I will be watching it at my DS and DDL home and her mother.
I assure you that not one of them has given the first thought to what they will wear and if it happens to be a teams colors it will be sheer co-incidence. On the flip side as most of you know me,I have been wearing my favorite NFL graphic tee all week. It is from 2005 and the game was played in Jacksonville,Florida where I lived at the time. I have laundered it again this PM and going to wear it tomorrow, along with grey pants. The shirt is different shades blue.
Now, I don't intend to offend anyone,but I happen to be supporting the Tampa Bay Bucs and their colors are I think steel pants (reminding me of grey I am wearing) and a white jersey with a little red in it. No blue in theirs . So I will probably wear a white cardi or other top over the T, and wear probably red sneaks and a red handbag. My Ted Baker watch with
rose gold face and a leather red and white floral band. The band is my favorite look of the watch, although I love all of it. And I have a nautical look bracelet, blue with red anchors, very small and insignificant looking, but i know its there. It is from Talbots. Also, I will wear my bucket denim hat, and keep it on. Haven't been to hair stylist in over a year now! So, now if you have any suggestion for me,please speak right up. Also tell me what you are wearing and what team you are supporting. I suspect most of you will be for Chiefs and that is good. After all, its only a ball game and not politics. LOL

Lol, my job tomorrow is to go to the grocery for ingredients for nachos. I have no idea what is going on, especially this year. I only learned about the nachos part at 11pm this evening, and was completely confused earlier when a commentator on the radio said he was supporting the Chiefs because he’s a New Englander????

rachylou, lest I get into something way over my head----but here is what I think concerning that comment from the New Englander-- Tom Brady left the the New England Patriots in May of 2020 and signed on with the Tampa Bay Bucs and will be Tampa Bay Bucs quarterback today. It was very dissapointing to New Englanders (heartbreaking in one account I read) so for that reason New Englanders will not support the team Brady is playing for. Disclaimer, I really don't remember details and statistics that well so if there is any error in what I have written here, I won't be surprized.

PS I should have added that not all New Englanders felt that way. Some cheered that he left, of course. Oh my, back to what I am going to wear and the party. LOL

I have no idea what I’ll wear — probably lounge pants and a sweater — because I’ll be at home with only the dog to see me (hubs is out of town at the moment).

Definitely rooting for KC. I’m a Ravens fan so root against the Pats at every opportunity, LOL, and that extends to Brady. I like Mahomes and want to see him win, especially since he’s from my husband’s hometown.

First, really encouraged; next week is the second round of shots for my MIL, and the healthcare workers I saw last week are on the same schedule. Second, not rooting for anyone this year, and instead waiting anxiously for the draft and trade news after the draft. Third, wearing no one’s colors: a color blocked and mixed media version of a Breton shirt, my favorite ponte knit pants, and a long knit vest that is in the nicest way possible basically a dress bathrobe. We will do a neighborhood walk before the game.

Ah. Oh dear. The family will have to tell me what to do, since the one side is from Maryland! (Lol, like they wouldn’t anyways, when it comes to football )

If I watch any part of any Bowl it'll be the Kitten Bowl or Puppy Bowl! I like team Ruff and team Fluff equally Eventually I'll catch the hilights on You Tube, and maybe The Weekend's halftime show.

Sundays are chores days, but it went from 50 yesterday to snowing today Aside from firing up the oven and making my first attempt at samosas, I'm not enthusiatic about doing much of anything. Outfit: catburglar black with lots of layers, and snowboots to scrape the porch and feed the birds. #lessaweatherwimpbutstillnotasnowtiger

I’ll wear what I wear every day - hiking pants and a sweatshirt. I have a couple like this one, and they’re new favorites. I don’t care a whit about football, and only ever watched to see the fun ads. My husband bought ribs so we’ll barbecue. We still have snow in the yard, even though the last few days have been in the 50s.

My Super Bowl outfit will be Athleta leggings and tee, plus Skechers sneaks, because I'll be leaping around in the kitchen, making snacks and dinner! Excited for the Brady vs Mahomes face-off! Mr. Xtabay and I will be cheering for KC.

I’m about to take a nap to get ready for it. Since it starts after midnight, I expect we’ll wear pajamas & sweatshirts. We lived in Tampa for 8 years, so my son will be cheering for the Bucs.

That looks like a fab bunch of avocados, JAileen! I made a new recipe, yeast corn bread. And since it didn’t act like it was doing what the recipe described, it ended up a bit overdone. After the first rise, supposed to form into a ball on floured surface to let rise again. It was more of a soft batter, so not a ball! Then it called for baking in a Dutch oven, which I don’t have. Used a loaf pan, didn’t know how long to bake. I will report after taste test. Going to start a pan of chili in a few minutes.

My DH is a big fan of sports so we always watch the game. We used to have a big party, but changed our tradition the year he had neck surgery the week before.

Outfit of the day: jeans, gray and white stripe thermal T-shirt (Target men’s department, approx. 5 years old), new dark gray cardigan with striped edges, gray wool socks, pink Cons. Covered with a quilt at the moment.

ETA: bread tasted good. I’ll make it again in the future. New photo, see 3.

I'm enjoying this thread. I'm not so much a sports fan as a huge sports talk radio fan. I like all the nattering about something that, while emotional for many, is not really going to affect me. It's like what an old boyfriend once said about how when the world series is on the front page you know nothing bad is happening. I often will listen to the game on the radio in preference to watching it on tv. I did actually attend a Bucs game the first year they started.

My husband's not interested but our grown son and I constantly theorize about sports news. I'm not crazy about Brady but vibe with his determination. Mahomes is more interesting to watch, I think. Plus, living near Philly, some of us think of the Chiefs as The Andy Reids.
For me it's not so much about the result as the process, the unfolding.

Chicken wings, nachos, ice cream bars over here! We don't follow football closely but enjoy watching, and always do a family Superbowl party (just the four of us) - although we've lost the kids already #teens

As to supporting, the only person we agree on is The Weeknd - our Toronto hero!! But I'm on Team Mahomes!

I used three avocados, fresh lime juice, red pepper flakes, S&P.

Before the game I took one of the dogs on a walk, and it was so warm I wished I hadn’t worn a sweatshirt. I think it was 57 this afternoon.

Helena, we went to bed during the third quarter, around 3 am. Woke up this morning to see the score hadn’t changed, but watching highlights, we feel bad for Mahomes. So many decent passes bobbled by would-be receivers!

I would like to ask, do you make the nachos from scratch? And another comment I have, it seems to me that your family observe and celebrate every occasion and I think that is wonderful. Thanks for posting.
Janet, hope you and puppy enjoyed the game. For you and all the other Mahomes fans, I like him also. Of course as I had said I was cheering for the Bucs which includes Brady, and I do like him, But, I did get a little upset sometimes when that nice Mahomes was pushed around a little to hard (as if that doesn't come with the game). And I would yell, stop it, leave him alone. But he will be O.K. and leave his mark on the game. I can only make a remark like this here on YLF, where we accept each other. It's terrible how some people respond to their "friends" on facebook.
cat2, thanks for your response. I am happy your MIL is getting her vaccination. I am in the elgible group and anxiously awaiting to hear when I will be scheduled. I. have things to do and places to go, for instance a new great-grandaughter in North Carolina, who is three weeks old now. Of course I know it will probably be summer before I can go. And they do keep me up to date with pictures almost daily.
Sounds like you had a well planned and relaxing day yesterday.

They weren’t too down. Brady is still a local boy and we rather like his wife (that’s what I bring to the football table, knowledge of super model wives, lol ). We do celebrate everything at that: coming on fast are Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras and St Patrick’s. I refuse to do Valentines because I need rest, haha!

We make the nachos from scratch and add meat and all that. My brother is very pedantic about the chips and their placement on the plate, while I want to know the exact carb count to dose my insulin. There is a strict order of business when it comes to the chips. The chips go on the plate, come off it to be weighed and then go back on the plate carefully! We command the kitchen for these things while Mother tells us to get on with it from another room. Of course, if we were at my Uncle’s or something, we’d just drink scotch and eat macadamia nuts

suntiger, you cracked me up. Seems like you were set to have the perfect day. Ruff and Fluff, ha. And the catburglar outfit, you should post, and special boots to feed the birds. wow.
I hope the samosas turned out to your expectation. I have never made them, nor eaten them, but when I have an opportunity I will eat them. I know I would like them.
Oh, halftime show and commercials count for about half the reasons I watch Superbowl anyway. Hope you enjoyed The Weekend half time show. I did.

JAileen, You dressed very nicely and comfortably. Good for you. BBQ ribs,plus the avocado dip (sorry if that is not correct name) maybe it is considered more than a dip chips plus the good looking cocktail looks perfect to me.

cjh, I'm glad your yeast corn bread turned out good. I have never heard of yeast corn bread. However, I cook almost nothing any longer and really don't keep up with new recipes. I do love chili and corn bread. When my children were still home many years ago, I made chili and corn bread a lot. We also liked pimento cheese sandwiches with the chili.
I used to always go to a large party in Jacksonville, Fla, they set up a grill just inside the garage and cooked shrimp, all kinds of veggies, and everyone took a dish. I always took a fruit tray. After I took the first one it was always requested I bring that next times. It was LARGE and very nice, sometimes a watermelon basket. My son, a caterer, always helped or did it for me. Maybe I was cheating, but hey it worked. My companion, father of the host, always took a cherry pie he picked-up at a local restaurant. So, as time moves on and things change, I have gone from such a big party to a party of three. LOL But I have to say I did enjoy yesterday's small party Thanks for posting.

Here's the Suntiger's Lazy Latin Kitchen version of samosas:
Egg roll wraps, frozen mixed veggies, sauce- I made ones with Thai yellow curry, and others with tikka masala. Bake 20 min at 400.
I also did little half size dessert ones with bananana (Brazillian banana paste).

My next batch will be Brazillian style with olive and hearts of palm + cumin and other Latina spices. And dessert ones with goyabada (guava paste) and cream cheese.
Goyabada was a big childhood treat for me, and I've only seen it in regular grocery stores in the last 10 years or so. My relatives must have sent it to grandma for me!
