Sunglasses #1 (warning: totally unflattering pic!)

A few days ago when I went to pick up a prescription for my son, I popped into my local eyeglass dispensary while waiting.I'm looking this year to add a pair of prescription sunglasses as my eyes are becoming more sensitive to the light, especially when driving.

I tried on a few pairs - most were ridiculously oversized on me. I felt like a bug - you know, with HUGE fly eyes? These are a pair of Ralph Lauren - they are black with mint green on the inside.

I'm reasonably sure these are not my pair, but I would love some valuable feedback regarding fit so I have an idea of what to look for and direction I should be heading. I will say they were very comfortable and sat well on my nose.

Please ignore my hideous hair and complete lack of makeup. Only for YLF feedback would I even post this pic - lol!

I also have an oval shaped face, and my favorite prescription sunglasses have more of a rounded-at-the-edges appearance. They are about the same width as the ones you are wearing, just a bit more rounded at the top.

This is a photo of me wearing them, they are similar to the ones you have on, just a bit softer looking at the top.

I had a similar thought as Karie. I think the metallic details at the sides square off your oval face too much for your feminine style. I like the width... are you still looking for a cat eye style?

If you like cat's eye, these are the Ray Ban's I just recently purchased. The color is blue-ish white and purple. They're funky and I love them!

Ha ha ha.....my hairstylist actually calls my hair style "the Jamie Lee look"! I'm pretty sure she looks waaaaaaay better au naturel than I do here, but thank you.

Ok....so the width is decent, but a too squared at the sides.

Una - thanks for the pic of Jamie Lee - I've tried aviators on but I really don't like them on me.

Rae - I'm not necessarily looking specifically for cat's eye, but I would like something at least retro-inspired.

That's not a bad start Shannon. They seem like a good size for your face and the bridge looks like it fits reasonably well. I agree that you should keep looking. You deserve something really distinctive.

I've decided that I want to get some Rx sunglasses too. I have no idea where to start, so thanks for posting this thread. I'm staying tuned.
