Sunglasses- options. - YouLookFab Forum

It's time to upgrade my prescription sunnies, after 4 years.
I feel a bit spoilt for choice, and would love some help in the decision.
Sunglasses are a daily wear item for me, and I only have one pair at a time, due to the cost of frames and prescription lenses. I would like to add a sporty pair at some stage in the future.

One optometrist does a 30% off deal if 2 pairs are purchased at once, and their frames are less expensive than my usual place.
But which will look better?

1-4 from today, at my usual optometrist. Lovely help from the SA there.

#1 has the tag tucked behind my ear. very awkward!

#3 are frames that could be fitted with sunglass lenses.

#5 and #6 are from last week.

I think I'm liking the oversized look. Will that stay current for long enough to get good value for me?

I like 5 the best. 3 is kind of fun too.

As a side note, have you ever looked at zenni optical (online)? They have soooooo many choices, and their prices are really really reasonable. You'd need your PD # (pupillary distance) but your glasses place can give it to you. It's a great website for people who like lots of options of glasses/sunnies. Even their no-line bifocal lens isn't frighteningly pricey, and they can put a sunglasses tint on many lenses for just a few bucks. I get all my eyeglasses from them even though I'm not a person that wants a pair to suit every mood/outfit.

Another vote for 5 and 6, the shapes are very flattering on you. I am personally a big fan of oversize glasses, and feel that they protect better from the sun, too.

Joining the club -- #5 and #6 are my favorites. You look very chic in the oversized frames.

Thanks, Clementine, Tanya and El Cee. It's nice to have the affirmation that the larger frames suit. I have a small-ish face, so I tried several other pairs that were just too big.
I'm happy I've taken photos, and looked at two places. I will feel much more confident in my decision.
CynthiaWalkersmith, I haven't been brave enough to try buying glasses online. It does sound like a good deal. I did have to get a lot of adjusting done on my last pair of glasses, so I was pleased that I bought them locally and could keep on going back until they were fitting right.

I vote for,,, #5 or #6 the shape is the best for your face to my mind.

The beauty of zenni, for me, is that the very few pairs I've bought over the last 15 years that didn't work out were so seriously inexpensive that I wasn't too upset about it. $13 for one pair that I wound up not liking, and $20 for the other. I just relegated them to "in case of emergency" status. I had one pair that needed a small adjustment and a local glasses shop did it for me for free even though I didn't buy from them.

I like all of them. I'd probably get 1, 4 or 6, but really they all look good on you. Which feels best? I have some cute oversize sunglasses that feel too big so I rarely wear them.

Thanks, Mirjana and JAileen. They all feel comfortable - as much as a try on can tell - and even the biggest frames are not *too* oversized. There were some others that sat right on my cheeks and when I smiled, the frames would move up and down!

Love the oversized ones in #5 but I think you should try on some even BIGGER ones for more of an impact, if you're up for it.

What a happy coincidence that #6 has the lowest price.
I'll go into the optometrist again and double check 5 and 6 before I order.
#5 is by Coach, but was not as pricey as I thought. Probably brown / tortoiseshell is still better for me over black.

Smittie, I did try on some HUGE frames - the SA shook her head and took them away!

Since you use sunglasses on daily basis, carrying only one pair is not enough, as due to busy schedule there might be a possibility of misplacing the glasses and can lose it, which may create a barrier in our scheduled work. Having 2-3 pairs of sunglasses are the best option, as if incase you lost one pair, the other is still available to you.
