Janet, I’m curious about the Tommy Bahama inter coastal ikat dress. I’ve never tried anything that is 96% linen with 4% spandex. Does the spandex reduce wrinkles? Is the dress opaque enough for not needing a slip?

I’m maxed out on buying dresses for this season, but am still considering purchasing a linen blazer and/or trousers, and unsure about whether I want pure or blended linen. So I’m looking for information on wrinkles, resilience, and opacity of this type of fabric blend. Thanks.

Hey 3style, I’m just seeing your questions now — Timely since I wore that dress yesterday for a little 4th of July cookout at our house.

The dress travels and wears so well! It washes really nicely and regains its shape with a simple hang-drying — I don’t put it in the dryer. No shrinking in my experience. The slight bit of stretch does a great job of helping it keep its shape, even after a period of time sitting (no baggy butt!). It’s linen-y texture doesn’t really show wrinkles at all, and it’s sort of a two-ply fabric that is plenty opaque without a slip. If they offered this same dress in a other print I liked, I would duplicate it. Hope that helps!

Thanks Janet. Exactly what I wanted to know. I put “ linen spandex “ into the search box on Nordstrom mobile application and it understood what I meant and came up with 169 options. Unfortunately most of the samples I glanced at include some sort of Viscose or Rayon or polyester in the blend. I’ve got old linen/rayon pants and they make my legs very hot and basically defeat the purpose of linen. But I’ll keep this simple two materials blend in mind when I look further.
