So I said that I would join Sal in her challenge to wear all of her seasonally appropriate items in July. But I changed my mind .
Seriously, I realized I’m in a different phase with my wardrobe, just ‘finished’ rebuilding for my new body, life and style preferences, and that means I’ve added many pieces. This summer as well as the previous one, when I bought plenty of tops late in the season that haven’t gotten much wear yet. So it seems more sensible to now fully enjoy the range of outfits those new items can be integrated in. Snapping outfit pics along the way to learn more about what works and what doesn’t in my new style direction (forties tomboy if you remember).
That may mean some older items effectively become benchwarmers (if they weren’t already). But at this point I’m not in for a big cull, I just want to dress in a joyful and creative way to reward myself for all the ‘work’ I did determining my style direction and moving my wardrobe there.
So even if you aren’t crazy about the WIW’s below, I know that for me, my wardrobe has become versatile and right for me again. The proof? I changed jobs and managed to feel stylish & comfortable in temperatures varying from 13 to 33 degrees C, when riding my bike as well as presenting in front of our (honestly super casual) board of directors. By now I’m only really in need of a pair of summer sandals and a structured crossbody bag (both on order). I want to add a watch to my signature accessories too. All else is just fun and entirely optional. *Sigh of relief*.
Thanks everyone for the part you have played (knowingly or not) in this transition! If you like to look at my WIW’s, I hope you understand why I want to repeat wear these outfits and variations on them until the end of summer...
