Summer shopping purchases - YouLookFab Forum

I returned recently from a trip to the city, mostly for Christmas/ family/ relaxing time but including an element of shopping.

I braved the boxing day sale crowds, but apart from stocking up on necklaces bought only these sandals. Not bad for $40. (on sale at Williams the shoeman)
Have come to the conclusion that I should stop, as a woman in my late thirties, going to the teen shops - but they have the bargains, and they carry my size.

Anyway, later in the holiday I bought a new bag ($30 on sale at Strandbags) - my first for over 8 years and now I have given up on nappy (diaper) bags (actually I was using a backpack from a luggage shop, that can now revert to that purpose,)
Then on the last day of holidays, I bought some sewing materials (results have or will be featured on other threads) and bought some absolute bargains at Kmart: a tankini top for $5 (not pictured!) a blue tshirt ($7) in a shade that I believe is flattering and was eager to get something in this season, and a striped tank (less than $10).
Summer shopping should now be almost over.

great purchases, well done. those sandals and bag are a super colour that will work hard in your wardrobe. i love the cobalt blue with white, very yummy. nice stripy tee and i love the pants length on you . altogether fab. and with your svelte figure i think you can confidently keep hitting the teens shops.

Thanks Lantana. I didn't know that sade of blue was called cobalt.

I realise that I can fit the teen clothes, and perhaps carry it off, but I didnt end up buying anything from them despite spending hours waiting in the dressing room queues at Temt, Valley girl and Ally.
I am not sure where else to go though!

Anne - The shoes and bag are stunning. The color of both items is rich and will work great in your wardrobe. The two tees are just fab - the blue pops off your skin and the stripe showcases your great figure.

Anne, you're looking wonderful! Great simple Ts and wonderful new bag! Wish I could advise about Australian shops to try. It is surprisingly difficult to shop for clothes that are neither too young nor too old.

The blue is awesome!! Some of my favorite casual purchases are from both Kmart and Walmart As for the teen clothes . . . I was/am in your boat with having a hard time finding other comparable places to shop as I approached 40. Locally, I have a discount chain here in Florida (Beall's Outlet) that carries all things from designers like DKNY to Target Mossimo and the Canadian Jacob brand. When I move back to California I always miss not having this store anymore. Do you have anything similar to TJ Maxx or Ross? Those are good places to still find a bargain but not have to get teen wear to do so.

Our bodies are the same from the chin down! We could trade heads and nobody would know the difference!! Well, maybe close family members would.
Anyway, I have found that length of pant to be perfect. You look great, Anne!

Great purchases Anne. I say keep checking out the teen shops as y never know what you might find. I struggle where I live and have to make trips to Melbourne to shop:) We have a good Target store here and I do shop there a bit, particularly for casual things.

Diane - so we are body type twins!! How tall are you? I am 5"4. Have you posted any pictures yet? I will be sure to look out for them.

Deborah - I did go to Target as well but didn't get anything there. We have a country Target in my town which I do pop into quite often, though the selection is not as good as the normal ones. And I have had success with the teen shops in the past.

Those are wonderful. I love red shoes!

In fact, I loved my own pair of red shoes so much that they literally wore out and I'm patiently waiting for summer to be over so I can go and buy a new pair.

Congratulations on graduating from the nappy bag phase too, BTW. I'm trying to recover from the shock that my "baby" starts school in just over a week. How on earth did time fly so fast?!
