Summer outfits for pears.

I have no summer clothing! I really need to shop for things, but I have no idea where to start. I feel the need to cover up a lot and now that it is summer, I just have nothing that is cool and light to wear! I have a hard time finding things that fit my pear shape and help me stay cool. Any ideas?

A line skirts are good for us pears.
Linen and cotton are good fabrics for staying cool.
Have you tried belting tops? I sometimes find summer shirts a bit shapeles and a belt pulls it together and makes it more streamlined x

A line skirts are impossible for me to find. I finally found a skirt, but I am second guessing my decision. It is not so flattering to my shape. I know I need to try belts.

I am a pear, too and I definitely second the skirt idea. Don't give up on them! It may not be easy to find a color/pattern/length that suits you but it is totally worth it.
In the summer, I also like to wear wide legged pants (balances out the hips)and A-line dresses. Good luck!

Although my predominant shape is hourglass, I have definite pair tendencies and feel your pain right now! I couldn't agree more with the other ladies: dresses and skirts are fabulous, comfortable and flattering. Here are a couple of examples of items I've found recently that should help me beat the heat and humidity. These outfits have both received the green light from Angie and the ladies, and I bet something similar would work for you:

1. A-line skirt with sleeveless blouse:

2. A black and white dress: I'm sure there's some poly-somethingorother in the fabric, but it's light, drapes beautifully and forgives in the right places:

These can also transition well to cooler weather with simple additions like jackets or cardigans.

I'm guessing you're smaller than me, and I imagine you'll be able to find the right stuff over time! The other girls would probably be better at recommending stores with good a-line skirt selections. Good luck and keep us posted!

I just wanted to tell you- I know how you feel, as a fellow pretty pear. I find I depend on the fall/winter layering and fabrics to balance out my shape. When summer comes, it is sooo hard to find flattering outfits. But this summer, I'm determined to find dresses and skirts that are flattering. We can do it!

Why can’t pretty pears find flattering A-line shaped dresses this season. They are everywhere, and going for a song!

I was with a very pretty pear shaped client yesterday and she came home with 5 frocks at 40% off. Macys ladies, you've got to get to Macys.
