Love black and white with metallic! The hem on the white jeans is so fun! YLF!

I love this. I am always drawn to neutrals when they are done well. Gorgeous. This seems like your style.
I just came across the book Forever Cool when I was looking through our storage area. I need to look through it again.
To answer your question I do get inspired by pictures. I look at colour combinations, textures, arrangements and other things that are probably intuitive.

SF, Gryffin - I paid for a download of Forever Cool last night and look foward to reading it tonight! While waiting impatiently for Handmaid's Tale and Big Little Lies to be available to watch

Lisa - I hope you enjoy Sherrie's book. Real women and each and everyone of them looks great. It's a different concept, understatement, elegance, best quality classics with the emphasis on fit, subtle unique details - it's a grown up and timeless way of dressing. I also loved her follow up book, steal this style - same outfit mom and daughter. BTW I love, love, love the book THT, and I liked the movie with natasha richardson. Is the series good? I have thought about purchasing it. Enjoy your evening!!

The new Handmaid's Tale is on Crave - I think - and in it's 3rd season. Intelligent, thought-provoking television . Excellent acting . Warning - it's not exactly pro-American.

Great outfit. I love the long-over-lean, with the added twist of the flutter hem on the jeans. A little touch of boho, reined in by your streamlined palette, jewelry, and sandals. I also like how the ring and sandals echo each other.

Yes, I'm definitely inspired by looks I see in print and online. Occasionally Madewell has come out with a collection that makes me think, "I want to look like that!"

You and Katerina are on the same wavelength with the long over lean today! As I said it on her post, I never get proportions right but both of yours are perfect! Love the hat and jewelry set! wow!

I love the description of your awareness of spring vs. summer light and how you adjusted your colors accordingly. This all looks so right. Love the silhouette, too.

late to this but LOVE everything you said. I love the idea of white, brown, khaki, and black, and going back to neutrals after getting a bit tired of other colors. ( I left olive off the list because I prefer my olives with black and white and not brown). "wish I had brown leather sandals and a bag"....I do in fact have both. The sandals are super casual/boho and the bag is similar but a little more polished. I already have white jeans. Some more polished/dressy brown sandals, one or two summer tops in a warm brown and I'm good to go!

Yes I do get inspiration from editorial photos, especially when fabbers like you take them to the next step of outfit creation. This is exactly the type of inspiration I've been wanting for the rest of summer and into fall. Can't thank you enough!

p.s. I did a google search on "forever cool" and the first result was an album of Dean Martin singing with various others...had some interesting reviews but not the book you were talking about ..the addition of "Sherrie" to the search string got me the right book...definitely going in my Amazon shopping cart. This sounds like one I want as a real book not a kindle book...photos don't come across so well on kindle. Thanks for the recommendation gryffin!

Hi Chris - thanks for your thoughts - glad we are on the same wavelength And laughing at the Dean Martin album - his appearances on the Tonight Show (with Johnny Carson ) are some of the funniest ever. Talk about cool I decide to buy the digital version of the book rather than a print copy simply because it's so old.

Sharan - I know what you mean about Madewell: I've had that reaction too .

You look wonderful in this outfit, Lisa. I'm also in awe of your ability to take a photo like that and draw fashion inspiration from it. Those Tribal jeans are awesome. That's a brand that tends to fit me well, but my normal source for it closed, and I've never bothered to try to track down another one.

Off topic: Did you order the EF jeans, and if so, did you try to get them in Canada or did you get them from the US? I've been so busy/hot I haven't tried to track down any of my "I don't need this but hmmmm..." items.
And totally off topic: Are you liking THT this season? I loved the first two, but not so sure about it now.

Elizabeth P - I've missed you! As to THT - the newest episode (last night) was the worst ever. BORING and weird. I still love the series though. It might be getting a bit derivative at this point, and I hope they don't feel the need for another season .

I tried to order the EF jeans, but they don't ship to Canada. I didn't bother trying to call Canadian stores for them- it's really not that important to me and I am quite confident I can find something here to satisfy my needs.

Tribal has a good shopping website, FYI. I had originally bought these at a store, got them home and they didn't fit (story of my life). The store didn't have my size, so a quick internet search brought up the Tribal site, and was able to get them for the same price . Simple, and quick shipping .

What a great look for you. I love how you translate a photo into something that is very YOU. I wish I had that kind of creativity. I haven't been around much lately so I didn't see any of your WIW's with pink or floral items, but I agree that they could feel a bit too sweet for you.

You have such a fab jewelry collection!

Elizabeth P and any other interested Canadians.....Yes, the EF boyfriend jeans are available in Canada. I saw them in Ottawa yesterday. I didn't pay any attention to available sizes.....saw them hanging and they weren't my thing.

Marilyn - thanks for this! I can't get them to appear on line though. And I'm logged in for Canadian shipping. From what I read here on the forum, they sound heavy and cotton-y , which isn't for me either.

Thanks Marilyn! I will definitely call them... now that I know I can order two sizes and not pay shipping.

Thanks Lisa - I've been reading sporadically but just no time to comment much. I hate when that happens. Nice to be missed though

I love your inspiration pic and resulting outfit! What a great ring especially! The site Design Seeds is good for non fashion color inspiration too https://www.design-seeds.com/by-color/
Quality of light makes a huge difference to me too-and I totally get it about blush and other spring colors.

Great outfit! I love those gold sandals. I'm impressed by your ability to take something like your inspiration photo and create outfits that evoke the same feel.

Lisa.....The EF jeans are 98% cotton. I can't really comment on heaviness or anything because I don't think I even touched them. Just seeing them on the hanger....the shape, the colour....just not my vibe. They read quite casual to me. I'm not really into black denim to begin with but if the right pair came along I'd grab them for a different look.

Elizabeth....Happy to help!

Marilyn - I think we are on the same page re the EF jeans. I want dressier/sophisticated and edgier in black denim, which is why I first picked out some skinnies. At first the boyfriend cut appealed to me, but the more I read and thought about them, I'm totally off them now. Funny how quickly the pendulum swings

Lisa....I just ordered a pair of BR black cropped flares with silver button front to try. They're new on the website. I don't have a lot of luck with BR denim but sometimes they work. I got the similar pair in light denim and I'd wear them every day if I could. Perfect fit and so comfortable. For the black, I thought the buttons and raw hem might break up the black and make them a bit more interesting and not so drab. Plus they'll work with sock booties for the winter. Different fabric though...maybe too stretchy. We'll see.

Oh.......I saw the Boss black pinstriped pants you ordered. Look fantastic! If I had a use for dress pants I would have tried them.

Late to the party here (have been off the forum for the past few days) - but YES. I can hear how comfortable you are in this outfit in your voice. The mani is very you, as is the flare of the jeans. And I'm with you - I tend to go to more neutrals in the summer too, because it just feels classier and more subdues to me. I never thought of it having to do with the light, though that's a great point...I go for richer colours (tough still neutrals) in the fall.

Oh how did I miss this post??! You look amazing in your neutrals with metallic pops!

I agree with gryffin; this is an amazing outfit. I adore the rings and how they echo the sandal straps. And the hem on the pants is fab. It adds interest without being disruptive to the flow. I had never considered the effect light has on color, but I think you might be right. I will need to ponder this more, but I am always a fan of neutrals.

A great outfit, you completely knocked it out of the park with this one.

Agree with everyone above, this is stunning—so completely your style, I can see why you felt so great in it. I always love and learn from your analyses too. You have such a gifted eye.

OT but a friend told me not to bother w S3 of HT, so I am looking for enabling if anyone liked it. Loved 1 and 2 and I won’t get into politics here but I feel we need that message for our world times right now. Many episodes of BLL were so poorly edited —the reason became clear after word got out on the sidelining of Andrea Arnold—that I found it hard to appreciate at times. But it’s worth watching for Meryl Streep alone. I saw one columnist call her character “Meryl at her Streepiest” and it couldn’t be more accurate.
