I had a short trip to the shops yesterday, and saw some dresses that made me think of you, Anne.
I don't know how they fit into your budget, but maybe helpful for inspiration. The Jacqui E dress seemed to be of substantial fabric and a nice cool A line shape, and I think it even had pockets.
Jeanswest also had a good range of summer stock. I could be biased as there is a lot of orange/ rust : ) And of course a jeans shop has lovely dresses.....
And a skirt with waist detail that may or may not be to your taste, but it is cool and summery.
As an aside, I bought denim shorts there. I never knew they did a Curve Embracer fit, and it's perfect for me! Now I understand what our US and Canadian fabbers were talking about with curvy fits.
