It's still practically August (i.e. HOT), but my dad mentioned Christmas lists today...

When it's cool, black footwear is about all I wear with skirts and dresses. I have classic black riding boots and Miz Mooz lace-up boots. Last fall I added Chelseas and midcalf Eccos, and wore them almost exclusively. I did feel the lack of a pump and a more refined boot. This summer I added pumps. But tall boots with a simple, refined look I'm still missing. The Duchess sporting her "Rhumba" Aquatalias confirms that I'm on the right track.

I'm picky on this one! My legs are long-ish (17" floor to base of
knee), and my calf starts 10" up. All of my tall boots swell out 1-2"
lower than this, and it's starting to bother me more. Especially when the top of the boot ends at the widest part of my calf (14-15"). Stretch material
should eliminate this issue.

Also:
* Comfort. Feet are low volume with short toes and a high arch.
* Point/almond-ish toe.
* Mid-height heel: 2" - 2 3/4" max.
* Sturdy spike heel, like Kate's Rhumbas, or a Cuban. No stiletto or block.
* Close fit and no sheen, preferably good stretch fabric or suede shaft.
* Little to no hardware.

What I've described is not on trend. But since current Aquatalias are way out of budget, shopping past season good anyway. I'm good with the search through clearance/6pm/Amazon/ebay.

I've added the Rhumba Aquatalia in the Finds, although they're long sold out. There's also some Uggs (probably too stiff), and some Trotters that look pretty good. I'm looking at La Canadienne on ebay. I think someone mentioned Blondos, too. Any other ideas? Recommendations for specific ones from a year or two ago?
