I did, once upon a time, do some serious sewing -- sewed a couple of shirts for my husband, did a party dress for my first grandchild, and collected some fancy-dress patterns with the intent of making them. I took a couple of garment sewing classes at a local fine sewing store too. Life intervened, though, my Mom came to live with us and my sewing room evaporated. But also, I was discouraged at the difficulty of finding the combinations of pattern and fabric and notions I needed, to get the looks I was after. It was very disheartening to watch the fabric stores near me be taken over by bargain bins of lace or potholders!!
I tried my hand too at some quilting, and made a few pillow covers from quilt blocks. I really enjoy sewing, but now I have such a backlog of alterations, I may be cursing my machine after a while! LoL. Still, I am thrilled to have her back, and pacing myself with the jobs. I hemmed up a pair of those fleecy pants so I can knock around in them in the evenings and not risk tripping. Now on to a pair of corduroy jeans.
