I keep my money ($80 per month) for thrifting in a jar so that when I see it's gone, it's gone. It's very easy to go over your budget with thrifting because the prices are usually so good. This morning I had $60 still in the jar for April so off I went to Value Village (with Starbuck's in hand...it's an exhausting process!).
Well, it was one of those crazy successful thrifting days - here's a photo of what I got for my $60 (excluding Gain of course, who needed to lay down for a photo op). Descriptions below:
- white denim jeans (no label) - the denim is nice and thick, the rise is excellent and they fit more like a trouser than a jean, which is what I've been looking for. They need shortening of course and a small dart in the back to close the wee waist gap. Otherwise, perfect.
- white cropped denim Liz Claiborne jacket
- brown and white silk polka dot Nygard sleeveless blouse
- apricot coloured linen Liz Claiborne button up shirt with 3/4 sleeves
- cream cotton/silk blend Joe Fresh 3/4 sleeve tee
- blue and white striped Laura Petites tee
- Gap faded wash boyfriend jeans
- black all leather peep toe Nicole shoes (made in Brazil)
I also had an interesting experience where a young customer (about 18-20 yrs of age) offered me $10 to buy my vintage white/blue trim cardigan off my back! I declined but thought that was really sweet.
Now I'm going to put my laundry in and have a glass of wine.
