Stylish closed toe sandals

I am uncomfortable showing my bare feet/toes at work in the awesome strappy sandals that are in-style right now. So I am trying to find some pretty alternatives.

Are these too "gear" or dowdy?

The first pair look like gear to me because of the way the sole wraps up and around so you can see it on the sides.
The second pair are pretty, but not very dressy. Is it ok to be not dressy at work?

Yeah, my office is really anything better than casual. Some wears jeans and sweatshirts, big wigs were suits or shirt and tie. I am typically comfortable in smart casual, or business casual. So I wonder if they would fit in my style, you know?

Its hard to find close toe sandals! I might have to stick to peep toe wedges and flats.

I actually think the first pair are cute- much more youthful than the second pair IMO.

I might even think the first pair could be worn casually with a skirt, definitely with jeans or casual pants. BUT..they are nowhere near business casual.

Good points, Queenie, and now that I look at them again, I am thinking they might not work for the office, but they might be the perfect option for weekends I go visit my nephews: walking to and running around the park, long walks around the mall (their favorite) etc...

Yeah, I don't mind either, but they look better for weekends. I pretty much live in ballet flats for work in the summer, I don't even try sandals at the office because it's so tricky (plus the air conditioning is cold!).

I have been getting really bored of my flats lately. I spent alot of the winter in them since I hurt my back and then had surgery on it. I am looking forward to wearing a little bit of heel in the coming months.

The pair you just posted look to me like they would work for the office.

I have seen the Sketchers in person and they are really cute, but definitely not business casual (if Sketchers ever worked for me I'd probably have them, but I need a 10 1/2 and they don't make them).

The first two aren't screaming "pretty" to me at all. They look rather orthopedic to me :\

The last pair you posted are much better. Still not my preference but definitely an improvement.

I'm curious as to why you think you need a closed toe shoe though? I'm used to hearing that in very conservative business formal environments, but your office sounds pretty casual. If you are going for a smart casual or business casual look, I don't think any of them look smart enough although the last ones could possibly be dressed up.

Dusty, thanks for the opinion. I think based on that I will definitely have to try these on and consider them for weekend wear.

Maya, I don't like showing my largely bare foot in the office, I am just not comfortable with it. I think I am self conscious of my feet, so I don't feel it's appropriate. For example, I would never wear a thong sandal or flip flops; just too much open foot on display. Others in the office do it, I just prefer not to... I think it's just a neurosis of mine

Last summer I wore mostly peep toe wedges/pumps, closed toe wedges/pumps, and a few basic flats. I am looking to add something a bit more airy than those options. Does that make any sense? LOL
