Styling the butt vest

Ok, folks! *rubbing hands gleefully* This is not a K/R. Hubs LOVES the skirted leggings and said he would not allow me to take them back, even if I wanted to.

So I'm just tried on half of my closet with them. I'm sharing some that have potential with further styling, and some that were suggested in the earlier thread. I really kind of love them with the Ugg Cortonas, and I expect these are the boots I'd choose to wear with these leggings 90% of the time.

Clearly, black and white seems to be a big part of how I'd wear these. I like them best with a low-contrast or column of color treatment.

I welcome your thoughts and suggestions on styling... Now I need to decide which one I'm going to wear today!

Wow! These are fantastic! I gave up trying to pick a favourite.....too much to like here. The boots are great, love the vest, really love the black on black looks and the burgundy. My least favourites would be 5 and 17. The lower contrast outfits look sleeker to me but that might be my own personal bias.....I skew that way.

I like them all. Love the black and white, and the layering in 12 is modern, and a bit luxe rock 'n roll.

I like the burgundy (either sweater with BCBG jacket, or the moto jacket) and also the look with the Phillip Lim vest.

Thanks, all! I am really liking them. Wearing today with a burgundy turtleneck and burgundy cashmere hoodie, and I'm very comfortable -- physically and psychologically -- in them. Interesting, because in a skirt this short alone, or leggings alone, I wouldn't be. But put them together and it feels right.

Naz, these are the Eileen Fisher leggings. I added them to my Finds, below. For sizing reference, they definitely run big. I'm wearing a small, and they are plenty big enough -- they actually slide down my hips a little bit, but it's not bad.

Lots of super duper renditions. The tall boots ground the look beautifully.

FWIW, I like the versions with the sleeker tops/toppers best - thereby showcasing a bit of waist definition: #4, 6, 9, 11. 17, 18, 19. The added waist definition amps up the polish of the outfit, which I personally equate more with your style. You may like and wear distressed items, Janet - but you are not a RATE gal - if you know what I mean. Like Kellygirl, your rock'n roll looks are far from sloppy. You are both polished and very neat people, which comes through in your style.

That said, all renditions work well here. Nicely done. xo

Deb, it's funny, I had showed my husband the photos I shared with the forum from the dressing room, so when he saw these today, he said, "I thought the skirt was shorter." I'm not sure whether the long oversized top the other day was throwing off the eye, or whether I am actually wearing them a little lower today. At any rate, they are the kind of thing where you can gain or lose a couple of inches of length, just by wearing them a little higher or lower on the waist. I tend to wear waistbands a little lower, and these are roomy enough that they slide down *just* a little bit as I wear them, which is fine by me because I'd rather have them do that than ride *up* and get shorter!

Just goes to show you should never listen to the musings of an old lady--or, read, laugh, and then do the opposite?

Seriously, though, I was dismayed that my thoughts were interpreted as telling you, or anyone, that they were too old to wear these blasted things. Your original question had asked for honest opinions and my thinking was these skirted leggings aren't the easiest things to style in a sophisticated way--but you've completely turned my thinking around with these photos.

So, mea culpa, and asking for forgiveness...

Fantastic!! Ok, loving the vast majority of the combos here! The only ones I don't love to death are the light blouses, everything else is awesome to my eye. 5, 8, 12 ...more...so good.

Did you try them with the Frye tall red boots (did you keep those?)? Too much contrast?

These leggings are working for many people once styled. And...I can't wait till my order from Sunday arrives
