So I met a friend at the mall today and over coffee she started lamenting how she was feeling so frumpy and wanted a make-over. I told her she should find a friend who's style she admires and copy one of her outfits. She told me that she thought that would be me. Wow! I was pretty flattered but then decided that I would see if I could help her out. We wandered through a couple stores so I could get a feeling for what she is drawn to. Apparently she hates everything. So picked a couple things for her and she hated all that as well. I was not quite understanding what she was looking for. So I suggested we head to nordstrom because they have helpful SA's that may be able to crack the code. I wanted her to have an outfit that made her happy. We took one step into nordies and a mannequin had a blouse that made her so happy. So I found the blouse on the rack and used that as our base to work from. I found out she is the opposite of me style-wise. She's very classic...I am not. She likes very feminine details. I do not. She looks amazing in blushes and muted tones. I look like death in those colors. She has a large bust...I am barely an A cup. So for me, this shopping trip was a huge exercise in relearning how to shop. But once I figured out what she liked and felt comfortable in, I was able to swoop around the store and grab an armful of options that she could consider. I found lots of options and she liked most of it....I even pegged her size! I was exhausted afterwords but I got a big dose of satisfaction. So my hat is off to Angie and all the stylists of the world. That is a very hard job. I didn't expect to be a psychologist today...
