Styling my new Zara moto vest (aka the Janet influence)

So, I hardly bought anything yesterday at the DC shopping meetup. I'm so used to ordering by mail and having lots of time to try things on with my own stuff that I get a little overwhelmed by a full day of shopping.

Janet, however, was focused and decisive (well, so was everyone except me. haha!) and she found this cream moto jacket at Zara, which was our last stop of the day. I've always admired her edgy style and have been wanting/trying to introduce a little more edge into my wardrobe lately....timidly, I admit...but I'm trying!

Anyway, I bought the vest that Janet found. I think she ended up buying it, too.

Here it is styled with:

#1 - Lauren navy/white striped dress
#2 - Lauren black/white print dress
#3 - new Peruvian Connection tee-shirt dress
#4 - new BR tee-shirt dress

I'm new to the moto vest thing, so I'm open to other suggestions! Thanks!

I think all of these look great Nancy! And as we discussed yesterday, it would also work great with blouses and jeans, particularly white. Congrats on your first baby step into edgy territory !

Oh I love that vest! It's amazing what it does for those simple summer dresses. While it might be too hot (or nice) to wear around the house, if you have to run out, it really adds a lot of pizzazz!

Reminds me a lot of my white jacket, so of course I've got to love it! It'll look great with jeans/pants, too!

What a great vest! It will be a lovely alternative to a jacket on a hot day but still adds a lot of interest and structure to soft dresses!

Thanks, everyone! Shopping with the YLF gang was a new experience for me. I usually shop by myself, but shopping with others is a great thing since it can broaden your fashion horizons. I never would have looked at that vest if Janet hadn't seized on it.

Yay! I like all the ways you've styled it here, and I'm so flattered to be an influence!

I have a black and white striped dress similar to your first pic, but with short sleeves (I'm actually taking it to the tailor to have the sleeves shortened to more of a cap sleeve, I don't like sleeves that hit the middle of my upper arm) -- I am going to copy that look as soon as I get the dress back!

I wore the vest today, with simple teal tee, bootcut jeans, and teal sandals. I think we'll both get lots of wear out of it. So glad you joined us and that you got this vest!

VERY fab, Nancy! I love it best with the dress in #2, because of the way the white seems to swirl out of the jacket and into the dress pattern.
