Styling My New Yellow Shoes - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Ladies,

Keen to wear these shoes so spent a little time trying to build a couple of outfits around them.

#1
Bootcut jeans with bird blouse, blue belt and long navy vintage jacket.

#2
Same bootcuts with black blouse and scarf

#3
Same bootcuts with black blouse and red wool jacket (the jacket needs a good press and when pressed sits much better than this).

I like #1 and think #2 is ok for weekend wear but #3 isn't working they way I had hoped and looks less than average but I thought I would show you anyway:(. I wonder if maybe I need a slimmer line on the leg ie. not bootcuts?? Also think I would change out the black top for my ink blue satin one.

Am keen to try the shoes with black bottoms too but need to rush and cook dinner now

Would really appreciate your advice.

Can't see a problem with nr. 3, nor I think is less than an average look. Love all, and take notes for wearring a yellow shoe with dark denims, it's so different.
Nr. 1 is kinda casual Matrix gear, I would say--quite edgy-
-and love, too!!!

Especially love #1, Deborah! Beautiful balance of long monochrome line plus the light, whimsical blouse on top and the shoes below.

Is #3 seeming like there's not enough yellow to balance the red? If yes, certainly skinnier jeans could solve that, as might a handbag or scarf in a similar hue.

A peep of your yellow shoes in all those outfits elevate even the simplest of them. I loved all your outfits, so casual and chic at the same time. Nice shoes!!!!

I admired these shoes in your previous post, was excited to see how you would wear them, and am not disappointed! 1 and 2 are amazing. For 3, what about replacing the black top with your bird blouse for 1?

You've done the shoes proud! #1 is my favourite. There's nothing wrong with #3, but changing to the ink blue blouse would be an interesting touch.

I'm glad these shoes *fell* into your hands Deborah. You certainly know what you're doing here! I love the first outfit with the long vintage topper! I think they look great with these jeans in all three pictures. I really like them all and swapping your black top with navy would also be fab in 3. You could build an outfit with a bit of red, cobalt and those shoes and that would be a fun (and a bit daring) color scheme as well.

I was just going to say that I especially liked #3, then I finished reading your post. I don't see anything "less than great" in #3. All 3 combinations are really livened up by the yellow shoes.

All such great outfits. Buying these shoes was a true stroke of genius. They up the coolness factor instantaneously with that one little peep of bright yellow! It's how I finally got sold on being a shoe girl (hubby doesn't get this--"No one looks at shoes...they're all the way at the bottom..." LOL)

Totally fabulous! All three of them. #1 is KILLER.

The sweater jacket in #3 is less crisp that what you usually wear - and that might be what is bothering you, Deb. The patent shoes are also dressy - and perhaps that particular pairing (casual and dressy) is not the best fit. My two cents - it's still a good outfit

Loving those yellow shoes! Such a fun pop of color. I like #1 and 2 so much and 3 does look like you added the shoe to spruce up a more casual look but nothing wrong with that!

I like the 3 outfits. More then like actually, they are very well balanced, creative and Fab.
number 3 is more casual than the other ones and maybe a skinnier type of pants would make you feel more put together.

I like all 3, but especially #1! I think #3 looks nice, but maybe swap the jeans for skinnies to give a little more structure since the cardi isn't structured, or swap with trousers to dress it up a bit?

Wow, Deborah, you look fantastic in these shoes! I love the way they BOTH bookend AND add a pop of colour to the outfits. And their brightness brings out the brightness of any other bright piece you are wearing.

I like all 3, but #1 especially. The... well, I guess it's not bookending, but the bright/light color of the top and the shoes really lighten the outfit. And that blouse is so cute!

Mani, I am going to try #3 with skinny jeans and see how it looks. Also will try with a straight leg black trouser. Celia and Aida, thank you also re your observations re the skinny pants.

Emily, I tried the red jacket over the jeans and bird blouse quickly this morning and it does seem to work better. Thank you for the suggestion, for some reason this hadn't occurred to me:)

Mochi, you can tell your DH that I ALWAYS notice people's shoes!!

Angie, thank you, and your assessment re #3 is correct. I couldn't put my finger on it but I was definitely wanting a crisper /smarter look. I want to put the red jacket and yellow shoes together so i will have to reconsider what to put with them, perhaps a sleeker bottom.
