Styling my new pleather leggings

Yes, pleather leggings.

Me.

Who knew?

Anyway, I scored these at Christmas time. I'd been noticing a lot of leather/pleather leggings showing up on my pinterest board over the last little while, but really didn't know if I could pull it off. Then I found these over the holidays, last years stock, marked down to $30. IN MY SIZE. So I grabbed them, figured if they aren't me, then I'm not out much.

They are slightly wider through the bottom of the leg than some, which makes them a bit more trouser like. I could get them taken in if needed - I'm torn between liking this because it doesnt' feel skin tight, and not because it limits tucking them into some boots. Opinions on this wanted.

Anyway, before I tell you what I think, I'd like to know what you think. They are a keep, so looking for styling opinions. Here they are, first with different footwear, with what I happened to be wearing yesterday when I took the photos, then with some other tops options I have. What footwear works? What silhouette works?
1. Black riding boots
2. Black pumps
3. Booties with a 2" heel
4. Combat boots
5. White blouse
6. White sweater
7-9 Different black sweaters. Tee can obviously be anything.
10-11. Smoking slippers,
12-13. Tunic, different shoes.

I need a chambray shirt!!

This also makes me realize I could do with a longer, fluid sweater.....

Any input you are willing to offer, is much appreciated!

I like them and you certainly have lots of pieces to wear then with. I'm not crazy about wearing them with the skirt in #9, but it's hard to tell with so much black.

How fun!! I like the top lengths in 5 and 6 best. The first few seem a tad too long to me. #13 is good, too since there is a pattern to bring the eye up from the longer hem length.

I love the white toppers with these, and of course black goes with most anyway, so you have great versatility.
Agree that a chambray shirt would be a good addition to you closet too.

I was a little surprised to find that I liked the pumps as the footwear on you, here. Look 6 is a great look, too!!!

Thanks for the speedy responses! Interesting to see some consistency in length - I'm always trying to hide my thighs, and "leggings are not pants" so I was digging out longer items from my closet. Maybe I didn't need to.

Catnip, #9 is actually a really long cardi ;). But as you said, hard to tell with black.

I think all the tops look good. I don't care for them with the tall boots - covers up too much of those fantastic pants. I like them with the black pumps, booties, and smoking slippers. What a great buy!

Elizabeth - these look great on you!! I love my leather leggings too!! I like all your outfits, but 2, 3 & 10 are my favorites. I have the joie armelio sweater which I like to wear with mine but any tunic would probably look great. Do you have suede booties? I like to change up the texture but I like keeping it all black (but that is just me!!) Beautifully done!! You look great!!

These look terrific on you! Fun find. For footwear, I like the pumps and the booties. For tops, I like the length of 5/6 the best. I also like #3, #10, and #12!

Once again I post and run, unintentionally. Picking up the girls from a supper playdate last night turned into glasses of wine and it got late, fast!

Thanks for your responses. I'm going to take your footwear preferences, and topper length preferences, and put together some outfits. I'm glad the overall feeling was positive, wearing something like this is definitely pushing my comfort zone, and I'm so excited to do it.

And RAISIN! It's you! I was thinking of you when I bought these, because they seemed so "you", plus I got them at Eloise :). You haven't been around much, I hope all is well, I miss seeing your outfits. Thanks for dropping into comment here.

How fun to push outisde your comfort zone. i think the longer tops and the tall boots aren't the best proportion on you. Showing more of the pants with the shoes definitley works better. For myself I wear heeled shoes only and that adds to the edginess of the look.

Love these with the heels especially because I am wanting to see some foot to break up the black, but it's hard to see much with black bottoms. Enjoy!
