Styling LOFT Sailor pants for Arty Ec / 40's retro rectangle/ apple

What is the best way to style these navy sailor pants for me for my ultra casual SAHM days? I want to be able to see the buttons. I tried tucking in a blue and white stripe tee, but it just accentuated my bust and belly.

I am moving into a size 10 now ( these are a 10) and am hoping to move to an 8 eventually so I don't want to break the bank but I do like these.

Those are cute! I used to have a pair that I just wore with a tucked in tee or with a peasant style top that had an elasticated bottom. I love the sailor detail but had a hard time styling them to show off the cute buttons.

I love sailor pants! Perhaps a sweater with a high-low hemline? Or a regular length striped sweater, or a sweatshirt like the one Angie linked to last week:

Cute pants, and I think they suit your developing style. I second the others' suggestions.

Another thing is to look for a knit top that is cut slimmer at the bottom so that you don't have to tuck--you can kind of just arrange it above the buttons (like photo 1 .) I think a semi-tuck would probably work too. I think the tops in 2/3 would be cool semi-tucked. Just throwing some ideas around.

ETA: I love Inge's idea about the high/low. I think it would work if it was drapey!
