Hot on the heels of yesterday's post on wearing my silk (fabbers said DO IT):

I decided to take the plunge with this shocking pink shirt. I've had it for 6 months but didn't know how to wear it and was shy of the brightness.

I didn't have a scarf or jewelry to tie in the pink so I wore the dark pearls to bring the black up and make it less colorblocky. The cardigan was how I originally was going to wear it, but I got brave and left it off.

How would you style this shirt? Thanks!

Oh I love hot pink and I think you did a great job! I'd probably also wear it with any of these colors: navy, olive green, dark brown, white, and denim. I've seen it work with turquoise as well but for me that would have to be an accent color. I like it with black as well but it would be lower contrast with some of the other colors, if that's something you'd like to try.

I love it! Are you wearing it with black? I like the crispness of it very much. Not too intense at all to my eye.

I have a few summer things that are bright, hot pink, and I love them so along the way I've figured out a few ways to work with it and feel comfortable with the intensity. Black is a little challenging (which makes your fab outfit even more fab). For what it is worth, I think black is even more challenging with my hot pink because hot pink and black together are licorice allsorts colors, right? So, other than a rare pairing with black and white, I pair mine with the other neutrals in my closet.

I adore bright pinks with charcoal, navy, camel and taupe. All those neutrals play well with it. I bet you've got a ton of items in your closet that you're thinking of now. I can't wait to see this shirt again!

That is one of my favourite colours and you wear it brilliantly. That shirt is really a great shape for you. I usually pair that colour with a neutral, and I love the suggestions above.great boots too!

Adelfa, although I rarely wear colour (and almost never wear *bright* colours) I make an exception for red and bright pink. That shirt is a great colour! I personally prefer brights to NOT be with black, however, especially black bottoms. I'm not sure why. And of course this is personal -- you may not agree at all. I think a bright accessory (shoes or bag) looks good with a black outfit, but if it's a hot pink shirt we're talking about, I think it would look far better with olive (military green) bottoms, or blue denim, or even white.

I would style that pink shirt with a denim or green camo skirt instead of a black one.

Yay for bringing out the bright pink silk shirt I don't think you need to "pick up" on the color anywhere else in the outfit, it makes a good statement right on its own. I like the idea of pairing with non-black neutrals/light colors; for spring: white, cream, dove gray, blush, mint, and faded denim blue all sound especially yummy to me. Darker neutrals that could be fun: navy, ink blue, camel, or charcoal. You could also pair with some prints, or sneak in little doses of another bright color :} And of course, the touch of metallic (your belt) is fab!

I love this pairing both with and without the cardi. A few other ideas I had;
Do you have white jeans? Would look fab with those.
Do you have grey or camel trousers? It would look fab with that.
I am not sure about turquoise, but I have seen Day Vies pair turquoise with red, and I bet it would work with fushia!

texstyle, I have a navy lace pencil skirt and a denim skirt. Next time I'll wear one of those!

k, yes, today I wore a black skirt. But I have a charcoal pencil skirt, and a dark khaki skirt (does this count as taupe or camel?) More ideas to try!

Tina, thanks! And thanks for the compliment about the boots. I saw some $600 loeffler randalls, and then searched to find similar ones till I found these corso como ones for $135!

zap and una, I'm repeating, "Don't fear the fuschia!" Besides I love fuschias (the plant).

mer, yes, the belt is a darkish metallic silver. It's reversible and the other side is mauve snakeskin. DD gave it to me and I think it's BR.

Elisabeth, I so agree that brights with black is not an optimal look. Too '80s for me. I do have denim and I *want* white and olive so thanks for the suggestions! (You too, texstyle.)

Thistle: I've got to get some white bottoms! I'm torn between jeans (more current) and cropped slacks (possibly more work appropriate). But I've got to get some!

Oh I would so wear it just as you did in the first picture, but then I love me some color block. I love brights with black as a nod to licorice candy from the UK. I guess though it isn't for you, or maybe, not yet. As you wear more brights you might find they grow on you!

I am a fan of fuchsia and wear it with all sorts of colours -- denim, purple, burgundy, navy, taupe, grey, white, and many more. You've already received great suggestions for what to do - - now just wear that baby!
