Styling Ideas for Grey Straight Legged Jeans?

I was thinking about purging these, but then I saw how great Mo looked in her Billy straight legged jeans, I thought I'd reconsider. These are from a few years back, 7 for All Mankind.

Any ideas how I can update these? Color pairings? Or should I make room for something more current?

I say keep for spring when the lighter colors come out to play. Then decide.

Those pants look great on you, both with tucked and un-tucked shirt, so style away. I wear my straight leg jeans with a 2.5" chunky heel, normally, and I find that straight legs give you lots of options for what to wear on top. They are a little more forgiving than skinnies.

I do have jeans in pretty much exactly that colour (skinnies, mind you) and here's what I wear them with, for colour combo inspiration:

1. With a black silk blouse or black dress shirt, un-tucked or semi-tucked, and red booties. I let the pants fall over the boots; I don't stuff the hems in.

2. With a white shirt and my new black and burgundy Swordfish Fluevog booties.

3. With a navy merino sweater, elbow-length, layered over a white shirt

4. In summer, with a black sleeveless or cap-sleeve jersey top and beaded brown-ish wedge sandals

5. With just a navy merino sweater or t-shirt. I love light gray and navy.

Keep in mind that I rarely wear colour. They would probably go with a hot pink top too, or kelly green, but I would only do that in summer. I don't know why, but I don't wear colourful tops in the winter.

You might really like these for spring. They look great on you! Grey is good with yellows and gold and may just what you want if you have any brights or soft colors like mint green. Cream and white, stripes, silver metallic, navy....

I'd try these as lighter in the spring, wearing them like you'd wear a pair of faded jeans. The scrunch is current. Is the rise just a tinge higher than you typically wear?

I would think they would go with every color, talk about a a real neutral. Most of your blousey tops, half tucked, will be perfect. I would pair with a bright one, but then I pair everything with a bright

More grey (my contribution as I love anything tonal). I don't think the cut looks as current as Caro's pictures, but I'm not 25 like those bloggers either and in a light color, I think straight legged jeans are way more forgiving on my hourglass figure.

Beth Ann I have all sorts of rises that I wear but you guys see me most often in low rise bf jeans pulled down even lower.

Love all the styling ideas. Just wanted to say how much I like these straight leg jeans. To my eye they are a slim straight leg jean. Some straight legs seem to have too much width for me. These look great.

I think Aida has a bunch of grey jean looks somewhere... Anyway, I agree they go with just about anything. I'm only doing pastels this spring if I can find them "greyed" so not pure tones because those are too bright for my skin. I think these jeans would fit perfectly into a colour scheme like that.

I vote keep! The fit looks great. Paired with a flowy white top or blouse or maybe the pastel green that is so popular this spring (like the leather jackets Angie posted), they would be very up to date. I'm confident you know how to make these sing:)

Oh definitely keep, Denise, these look fantastic on you. I love grey with: whites, creams, purples, burgundies, yellow and citron, coral, ink blue, cobalt blue, lavender, pinks and blush, light blue, teal and green, gold or silver, turquoise or mint...

I could see this with a floral print blazer or blouse too. Or an animal print high-low top. Plaid shirt. A sequined sweatshirt. Faded denim shirt.

If they looked this good on me I would definately keep. I love it the way you have it styled - both ways. For spring summer I can only echo what the other fabbers have said about a pop of colour - maybe one of the sour brights that Angie talked about

I've been loving my light gray jeans! With citron, cobalt, black, brown, silver, more gray, red... I found them pretty versatile.

I love grey, but I kind of fear it does not love me back. I'm going to save this thread for all the ideas. My pair of grey jeans (and I only have one) are worn very rarely. I just don't feel fab in them, not sure why. And I have the same fit in two other colours which I really like. So it is a weird conundrum. I need to try them more often. Oh and definitely keep the jeans, your legs look amazing in them!

They look great Denise! I like gray jeans so much that I have two pairs, though both are skinnies, especially in the spring/summer. I think you could wear these in any look you'd have worn your gray skinnies in really, though it might require a little extra roughing up to keep from looking too classic if that's a concern. Lots of great ideas in here already, but I also like the idea of pairing with either very boho items (BIG furry vests, super flowly blouses, etc.) as well as your more rocker items (e.g. fitted tee and black moto). Both on the slightly extreme side to balance the classic cut.

I never even thought about it. I wear mine with everything. I especially like them with pinks or navy. I hope you keep those because they look fab on you. Somehow it took me years to find a good pair.
