Styling help, por favor?

It’s embarrassing to think/say that I got these boots (I think about 5 years ago) and they’ve remained unworn.

I actually really am drawn to them but they’re really chunky, the top feels a little swashbuckle-y and I don’t want to hide the floral bit.
I haven’t wanted to donate them but it’s feeling completely wasteful keeping them and not using them.

I have zero clue how to style these. If you do, I’d love to hear thoughts. TIA.

Those boots are stumpers. What comes to mind…I'd wear current jeans. They seem to work with everything. Add a colorful tee that brings out some of the colors in the boots. Add a topper such as a black leather moto jacket. I hope this helps.

I have 2 pair boots I love but don’t wear- because the heels are a bit high. Bought 2016 and 2017, so you’re not alone!
Yours look really comfortable as flatter? If they were mine I would go the leggings/ponte route with a longer top/tunic over (so as to not do leggings as pants which is not me, others might be all good with that), with maybe some black or red or tartan/plaid in the top, if you have anything like that?
Or look at Nuancedream’s Olive Oyl post to style more like that? She had chunky boots there.

Jenni, glad I’m not alone! Yes, when I’ve tried them on, they’ve been pretty comfy. I am with you, I can’t do leggings as pants, but more power to anyone who can/does. I don’t own any atm but I have considered something narrow with them, too.
I like your idea of plaid with the floral. I don’t shy away from pattern mixing!

I would treat these as you do any combat boots. Why not check out combat boot outfits for 2023 on Pinterest? They do match your fashion personas on your YLF profile. I love a chunky boot. I would cuff boyfriend jeans (cos that is what I wear mostly) quite high to show of the pattern. What style of jeans do you usually wear?

Like Star, I’d try cuffed boyfriend or straight jeans. I’d keep the outfit simple and make the boots the statement because that’s how I roll — not maximal!

These are sooo great. My immediate thought was black velvet or fleece leggings. Something with some weight. You definitely want to show off the floral design and also keep a long leg line. A tunic sweater or thigh length jacket? Or a long vest?

I'm with those who suggest styling them like combat boots. Do you have black dresses, midi skirts, and floral dresses? Is your hair black?

Wow! Thanks for so many great ideas! Once I get home from work will reply but I can quickly say, I do have a black midi skirt, olive utility joggers, and I do wear bf jeans and straights. I am equally into wearing them where they’re the star and where they’re a bold mix. And my hair is naturally auburn but atm it’s kind of a dark caramel color.

These boots would go beautifully with knee-length dresses - especially a sweater dress for winter. I love wearing a black dress with black tights and letting fun boots carry the outfit.

Those are gorgeous boots! You have a lot of good suggestions here already, and I'll echo some of them. I would try a skirt or dress (mini or midi) and tights, maybe also with socks layered and showing above the top of the boot. In warmer weather, you could wear them with shorts that have some volume--baggy cutoffs or pleated shorts; add a slouchy blazer. or boyfriend cardi if it's not too hot out. I like the idea of boyfriend or straight-leg jeans rolled up above the top of the boot. I think the top of the boots might be a little bit wide to work with wide-legged pants or jeans; generally I prefer a closer-fitting bootie with wide legs.

So many ideas….
since I don’t know your style these are all over the place…
black leggings and and a long cardigan or duster
jeans, either cropped or cuffed, and a solid sweater, or if your a pattern mixer, how fab would it be to add a dark floral sweater
Cropped ponte pants and a blazer
midi skirt, denim or black and a sweater, or a blazer if you wanted more business casual

Anything and a velvet top…because they just feel like they could have that great juxtaposition—combat, floral and velvet

Those are super fun, and really flexible I think. Joggers or straight leg jeans in grey, black, white would look great. Just scrunch them up so they show the boot. Boots like that also look great with skirts. I had such boots, a little less chunky, in a fair isle/black and white pattern. I wore them with black tights and a black a-line skirt. Not the most sophisticated look, but everyone said I looked great.

Finally, pleather or vegan leather leggings. And I would avoid any wide-leg, boot-leg stuff...straight or skinny for this.

What made me contemplate wide leg slightly cropped is both the width of the top of the boot and showing the pattern but after all the great suggestions, I do believe there’s better ways. Your boots sound like they were eye catching and fun, Carol! I love fair isle. I am thinking of wearing these with a black chiffon pleated skirt, black tights and either a camel or black sweater, to The Nutcracker next week. If I do, will post a few pics as best I can ! No full length mirror but one I can take off the wall and angle, I think.
