Styling a new jacket. - YouLookFab Forum

I just got a new Maison Scotch jacket for winter and am debating what to put with it. I've taken a rather dark pic of me in it and uploaded stock pics of the front & back of the jacket. It has a sheepskin removable lining and a very cute double hood, one with wire so you can form it to frame your face.

So I need:

Boots - Celt posted her beautiful new sleek Sorel Slimpak Riding Boots and I'm convinced they work work well with the jacket and be perfect in our cold winter climate. I was leaning towards black but do you think either of the other colours would look good with the red tones of the jacket?

Hat - I'm wearing a knitted cap which I've never worn but my husband gave it to me a few years ago so I want to make it work. Does it look too young on me?

Scarf - I have on a brown/red tone velvety rectangle (again a gift from hubby) - other suggestions?

Gloves - colour ideas and style?

Any ideas and comments would be greatly appreciated. It's going to snow here any day now I need to be ready!

You look super chic in this outfit!! The hat looks like fun!

This color (looks burgundy) is something that can be considered psuedo nuetral for the fall and winter. So basically you could pair it with any color under the sky! The only thing that might need consideration is the proportion with skirts and dresses. Otherwise I see it going perfectly well with pants of all types!

The coat is quite classic and a great color for you. I love the hat on you! It steps up the style quotient of the coat very nicely.

I like the idea of the boots in black. The other colors would work too, but I just personally gravitate towards black because it bookends my hair well and I wear a lot of black. I could see a variety of scarves and gloves working with this coat -- it depends on your needs for warmth and comfort (I prefer leather gloves rather than knit ones, and I like the ones with the fingertip that lets you operate a smart phone without removing your gloves). I also like patterned scarves, but sometimes I'll coordinate a scarf with my outfit underneath the coat in case I want to leave the scarf on even after removing my coat.

Super fab coat! I think black boots like Ceits would be terrific -would they work for your feet? They would be great for the slush and snow.

I think both the black and the "shale" color would work well. Anything mustard would be gray in scarves, mittens etc. Great coat, I'm sure you'll get a lot of wear out of it.

I love the jacket! Do you like olive green? It would look great with jacket's color.

I'm sorry, I don't care for the hat. I think a beanie or beret style would look better.
