Style this dress?

I guess it is 90s ... maybe all plaid is destined to have a 90s vibe now; thank you, Kurt Cobain.
Wondering if the silk / sheer is just going to be too refined for me.

I was thinking opaque black tights and booties. But maybe your legs will get cold? Not sure how cold your winters are. And then maybe add a bright scarf.

I think for me the issue would be the contrast between the dress's light weight -- and the time I'd want to wear it. Silk with thick tights doesn't strike me as the best idea. Clingy, seasonally confused, etc. But that's in my winters....to me it looks like an early fall item when you can still get away with bare legs and booties. But then the problem becomes how often would you actually wear?

The plaid keeps the dress from looking too dressy. For fall the sheer sleeves can be easily covered with a blazer, moto jacket, or denim. It would be fun to do a little ( or a lot) of pattern mixing with the plaid...another, smaller paid or houndstooth, leopard, a floral on you feet or as a scarf or even as a topper.

I know, Suz. You are so right. Plus, I don't wear a lot of dresses. I'm pretty sure this is something I will dream about but not pull the plug on, but still, all the ideas are getting my head in the right place for a more stylish fall (I hope). I'm definitely doing plaid of some type, and maybe a more versatile, less refined dress that I can more easily tomboy-down.

Summer has been such a sartorial bust for me -- I've got high hopes for autumn.

Yesterday, DD stared at me .... I had on white pants, silver sandals, and a pink tee, and then she said: "It's country club mom!" And starting laughing wildly. Not that that is a bad look; it's just not me -- and we both knew it. This is SO not my season, or I don't know how to do it.
