Style shift going on...

Lately all I want to read about, research, and pin is French Euro Chic fashion. I've been more modern classic so far, which of course overlaps with euro chic. I know I've been thinking about it for a while since when I did searches for "euro chic" on YLF, I found my own comments.

I'm suddenly drawn to less color, more neutrals, lots of dark gray, basics... and I'm not sure how that's going to affect what I already own. I can't afford to replace a bunch of stuff but I have a decent grouping of basics that should work for a while. My more colorful things might get neglected and eventually find their way to the door.

Any other style shifts happening around here?

Well, it's happening to me again. Started a new project, in a new work place, and I just want to redo redo redo. Lol.

I'm still liking the rocker-punk thing, but now I want it in suits.

On the positive note, I think perhaps I can take *Country Punk* all the way through winter on the *at home* front...

Yes, I am wanting to ditch anything remotely sweet or borderline preppy, not that I lean that way to begin with, but there are a few outliers in the closet still. I'm just having trouble mixing my climate needs with my style desire. Floaty skirts and dresses are great for hot and humid, but not exactly edgy. :/

Remember your emerging new hair colour is part of the euro chic transformation.... go with the flow... it sounds wonderful!

I do think my hair change is part of what is prompting this. I've already gotten rid of anything brown that I wore next to my face. I didn't have much... a tank, a scarf... but they didn't look right anymore.

Mo, I'm with you on anything sweet. Not for me.

Funny you should ask! Lately I find myself drawn to items that don't jibe with the modern classic princess I've been for the past few years. A good example would be the skull scarves I found myself admiring in two different stores. Perhaps an edgier style persona is on the horizon.

Euro-chic is a great direction for you... sleek, sophisticated and the color palette will work so well with your softer hair color. Yes, hair change can definitely prompt wardrobe change. I went from long waves to a short, spiky do and find I am gravitating toward a more arty, eclectic, maximal style. Change can be fun.

It could be partly seasonal, too, Brenda. I find I'm more drawn to neutrals in fall/ winter. While at the same time I still crave a punch of colour and love having a red coat in the depths of winter. Still, colours that work brilliantly on me in spring/ summer seem too garish for me in winter (cobalt, for instance).

The seasons could be part of it. My summer clothes are definitely more colorful than my winter closet. I plan to find more summer things in neutral colors but we'll see how I feel come spring.

My style has definitely shifted in the past couple of weeks, but that's because of the weather. It cooled off, so suddenly I can wear belts again! And sweaters and long sleeve tees, which fit more closely. After a summer of waist surrendering and breezy woven blouses it's quite a difference, but it happens every year so at least I already have the appropriate clothes.

I look forward to seeing your future more Eurochic inspired outfits.

This sounds like where I want to be! I might need to repeat your search. My style has always been bright/colorful and often a lot of pattern, etc. But since the spring I've found myself reaching more and more for muted tones and neutrals. I'm taking it as a challenge to still feel fun in styles that consist of more basics and neutrals. Good luck with your style shift!

Sounds fun!
If you think it could be in part a seasonal hunkering down, color-palette wise, then you might put some things in your holding zone--if it's just colors that seem wrong now, but the style and fit still suit you. (That's my cautious side.)

If you think things are holding you back from really getting fully into your euro-chic neutral zone, toss 'em out! (I did some of that this weekend, and some of them came from said holding zone.)

I wear a lot of shades of deep pinks or berry tones and this fall I've gone way into the darker versions, burgundy and plums, and less fuchsia. But I think brighter versions will still have a role in signaling the coming of spring and summer, for me--in fact shifting between the different versions of this color family is my way of limiting my color palette but having the right amount of variety, and working with neutrals that go with each end of the spectrum.
