I have a wardrobe that includes a lot of very nice button-down blouses. I've worn them in the past, but this year I rarely reached for one to complete my work outfits. I've wondered why since I do love them and couldn't bare to part with a single one of them.

Then it hit me. I always wore the button-down blouses with trouser-style pants or skirts. With the discovery of ponte pants I don't reach for my trouser-style pants any more.

So the question became why don't I wear the button-down blouses with the ponte pants? I think the reason is because I don't tuck into ponte pants. When I wear a button-down blouse with the ponte pants, I leave it untucked. I feel sloppy in an untucked blouse at work (I'm fine at home). So the blouses remain in the closet and instead I wear a sweater and cardigan.

I commented earlier about a style shift away from my bright "happy" colors to more grey, black, and white. I thought my style shift might have been related to seasonal changes. I am now wondering if the color shift isn't also related to the ponte pants.

I own ponte pants in black, charcoal, grey, and brown (looking for white or cream). I have been coordinating them with similar, more relaxed colors. The relaxed colors speak to the somewhat more relaxed fabrication of the pants.

I feel relief understanding why my blouses are not being worn. I can possibly put them away until the desire to resume wearing them hits again.

You might question whether I could incorporate more different silhouettes (or uniforms). I could, but the trousers just don't speak to me today. There is always something I want to wear so much more then them.
