Time to write down a style statement, since like most goal setting, if you write it down, it is more of a commitment then just an idea floating around! Here are some thoughts on my adventures in style for 2018.

9 months ago I left the world of paid work behind after more than 40 years, and retired. Part of the transition was processing emotional burnout, and I believe I tagged my work clothes with the negative vibes. Furthermore, a health concern increased my intolerance for negativity in my life. From any source. So, in the spring I bagged work stuff I knew wouldn't transition to my new casual lifestyle or earn a spot in a specialty capsule, and during the October closet clear out I got rid of some more work clothes, and any other items that just didn't make me happy.

So, my collection of clothes is quite modest at the moment, but I LOVE everything in my closet. There is plenty with which to get dressed for the life I lead, and enough variety that I can dress appropriately, and authentically for any occaision that might occur without having to jaunt off to the shops.

My style is classic, sporty, and tomboy. Angie identified me as a 'Happy Tomboy' and I'm keeping that moniker! My favourite silhouette is a straight leg cropped ankle pant, a knit top, and sneakers. I like a light topper that is either cropped like a jean jacket or bomber, or mid thigh, like a trench or 3/4 coat. However, I do mix things up with button down tops and longer/fuller bottoms and sometimes even a skirt or dress.

My palette is neutral heavy (blue, black, grey, white) with pops of silver and red, and traces of wine, olive, and pink. I like mix and match/capsule dressing.

I have paid attention to self care and grooming - growing my hair, doing more with make-up, and I am now under a dermatologist's care for treatment of Rosecea.

Going forward I will need to replace some denim, add a topper or two, and build up my high summer capsule. I would like a great pair of sandals, white shorts, and a couple of breezy sundresses. I will let my hair grow a little longer, and continue to learn about skin care and make-up.
