Style moniker, adjectives, and wardrobe essentials

Hi all, sorry for being chatty Cathy lately, but I'm feeling energized for style journey 2018!

Angie's last few posts and the discussion around them has been so fun and inspiring; it's been great seeing everyone's different monikers and adjectives. Just documenting my thinking on these items for fun; as well, sharing with the group might help me stay on track

Style Moniker: Casual Kate
Style Adjectives: classic, polished, casual, simple ... and leaving one spot open to see what the year brings!
Wardrobe Essentials: Love this concept of Angie's - if I had only these items in my closet, it would be totally functional (if a little staid). I'm starring those items in need of a refresh, so that's my shopping list for spring/summer 2018 sorted:

fine-knit, tailored or just-fluid sweaters in neutrals/nearly-neutrals
fluid tees (summer)*
a navy blazer
dark-wash skinny jeans
white jeans or shorts* (summer)
neutral, walkable flats, including ballets flats and canvas sneakers (white Birkenstocks in summer)
stud earrings (crystal or pearl)
striped tees*
black slim trousers
a jean jacket
a neutral medium-sized tote bag
cotton-jersey sundresses (summer)*
nude wedges for summer dressier looks; neutral booties for winter dressier looks
a black clutch
a gray Roots hoodie (because January and cottages in summer)
necessary weather-related gear (coats, boots, mitts, toque, etc.)

NICE. Those are the adjectives I chose for you too. High five.

Not all of these items are essentials - like a black clutch. And an entire wardrobe category isn't a wardrobe essential either. You have to pick the essentials out of the wardrobe category and be specific about them.

That said, a super shopping list and your 2018 style refresh is off to a great start.

I am hopeless at identifying essentials. I either go too broad or too specific.

Angie, I've adopted your list of adjectives! Thanks for the encouragement!

Ok - I'll need refine the list and my understanding further - the clutch I included since it's the piece I use (along with a heeled bootie or wedged sandal) to transform any of my day clothes into a night-time look (it's a casual nightlife around here lol!) - but yes, I see that it's not essential per se; I could do without it.

The weather gear - really I hate this whole category, so it's more 'necessary evil' than style essential - but I would say, a dark puffer, a neutral, complementary or matching toque, scarf and mittens trio, and dark neutral boots for winter, and a neutral hooded raincoat and neutral wellies for fall and spring, are the items I absolutely must have.

For the flats category, black ballet flats and a pair of neutral canvas sneakers would be my specific items.

Off the top of my head, wardrobe essentials in my closet include:
Black non-cotton tee like rayon, silk or blend, short-sleeved and a long-sleeved, with crew or jewel neckline.
White heavy tee, a short-sleeved and a long-sleeved, jewel, crew or boat neck
Black fitted fine merino turtleneck
Black ponte pencil skirt, knee length
White denim pencil skirt, knee length
Pale grey non-cotton knit tops in long-sleeved and sleeveless she'll with jewel or crew neck
Black skinny ponte pants
White slim jeans
Dark denim skin jeans
Light or faded denim slim jeans
Cropped white jean jacket
Boxy hip length medium blue denim jean jacket
Basic knee length black or navy sheath or shift dress, knee length
