I stopped by Goodwill yesterday, looking for some glam rock pieces to wear onstage with my band. No glam rock, but I fell in love with this Talbots skirt. It puts me in mind of Alice in Wonderland.

I looked around the store to see if there were any tops that would pair well with it. No luck, but I knew I had one dark blue linen blouse that would probably work.

Once I got home, I was amazed to see how many things I already owned that paired well with this skirt! Short answer: about 2/3 of my spring/summer tops and shoes.

These are rough photos - no makeup, messy hair, and the skirt itself is very wrinkled and still has the tag attached. It’s been washed and dried now, and it’s getting a press today.

Did I need a swishy skirt with a 1970s couch print? No. Am I gonna wear it year round? HECK YEAH!

1. Close-up of this 1960s-1970s couch print.

2. With a Talbots trucker jacket that I thrifted last year for a country-western show. After I took these photos last night, I cut the band off the bottom, so it will lay flatter, and be more comfortably tucked. Loved this, will definitely wear this fall with boots.

3-4. I experimented layering with this Calvin Klein dress. These wouldn’t be my first choices, but it’s fun to see the possibilities.

5. With a random dress blouse. This could have used more tweaking with the sleeves and belt, or another white blouse altogether.

6. With a linen top and espadrilles. Loved this, will definitely wear this.

7. This sweater-ish-top looks good draped, but I didn’t like it with the skirt, because it’s too floppy.

8. The colors matched better in-person. Need to tweak the jacket, but I was getting hot and thirsty and ready to wrap this up.

9. My hands-down favorite! I’ll definitely wear this, and variants of this come fall/winter.
