Style lab - pleated midi skirt

Since you have been so helpful with zebra dress, and I have some free time to play in my closet, I want to ask your advice about something else.
I bought this skirt more than 2 months ago and have not worn it yet. I was drawn to it because of its color palette thinking that it will go with many things in my wardrobe. But it’s style is departure for me, I am used to pencil skirts, and I am having trouble adjusting my eye to this new silhouette. Is it JFE on me? How about styling? Tucked in or not? Does it need a topper? Is it maybe more spring skirt and seasonally confused in winter? Any advice appreciated. I can’t return it.

My favorite is number one. It would also look great with a black turtleneck like Angie recently showed .
I like the fun band around the waist!

1, 5 and 7 appeal to me. It's a great skirt ,and I think you can get lots of wear from it! I love the pattern/colours.

Love this and will present lots of opportunities to wear during summer and winter, I think. For me, pleated skirts work really well.

I would wear it exactly as you have styled it.Tucked in and not tucked in, I would also try with a belt. I like it with the blush pink especially I think, and the white boots lend a really modern approach.

Oooh I think it's a fab skirt! The cold weather could be to blame for you not reaching for it.

The colors and pattern are fun You've styled it really well - I like all of them except the cardigan - although I can't explain why - it just looks "off" to me.

I like the tucked top (1) or the tucked plus topper (6,7) the best, closely followed by the longer sweater in 2. The welt on the sweater in 2 does a nice job of taming/streamlining the pleats. Completely agree with your assessment that this might be easier to wear in the spring.

I love all these looks but 3 & 5 are my favorites. I would try the white boots with #3 for the bookend effect that Angie loves. The skirt is beautiful and should be taken out to play.

I think all but the long cardigan work...I think the length is off, but it may also the high low that’s throwing it off.
My favs of these are #1 #2 &#7.

I agree with kkards - I like the skirt on you very much but not so much with the long cardigan. I find there is too much fabric with the draping cardigan and the pleated skirt - a tailored coat would work well.

#1 is my favourite, but they all look good. Once you start wearing this skirt it will probably grow on you, I am very similar when it comes to moving away from my favourite silhouettes.

#5 is my KILLER fave. No contest. LOVE! (I prefer white to black so that's why).

Next, I like: #1, 4 and 7.

They all look good. My favorite is 5. I don't think you need a topper but like the jacket in 7.

Anchie, beautiful skirt on you . It is difficult to style that type of skirt but you really did it perfect. My favorite are no 1, 5 and 7, but the others are great too.

I think the skirt is lovely and you wear it well. My favorite is #5 with the white booties. Perfection. The booties bookend your beautiful hair perfectly. I can see switching out the black footwear for the white in all these outfits.

Love all of them, except 6, where I think the length of the cardigan competes with the fab skirt. I see others point about the cream top letting the skirt shine, but I also love the yellow sweater. The skirt reminds me of a midi skirt that I had 20 years ago, that I loved but could never properly style. You have nailed it!

I agree - 1 345 are my picks! But all work except the long cardigan.

I have a fuller skirt again this year and working out proportions again has been more difficult than I thought.

I like it with all the black options you've shown. #1 is my favorite, because the top is more fitted. 5 is also fitted, but somehow that color seems to put your curves in a negative light.

This skirt looks fantastic on you! I wish I could wear a pleated skirt so well. I got one a few years ago and could not figure out how to make it work on me. I like #5 best and then #4, #1, #7. You have many options!

I like the skirt a lot! It looks great on you. Maybe it’s just too cold right now? It looks like you styled them without tights, maybe you will wear more as the weather gets warmer. Is the skirt thin? For some reason I don’t like it when my tights are thicker than my skirt, if that makes sense. I must admit I haven’t worn my pleated midi as much this season either, because I usually feel too formal in it for some reason. But you really look fab in yours!

Thank you ladies. I am surprised at such a positive feedback as I was feeling very unsure about it. I have a hard time adjusting to new silhouettes, took me years to adopt skinny jeans and cropped pats, and now struggling with wide crops and skirts in any other shape then pencil.

You are also probably right that it is still too cold for this skirt and maybe in a month or so I would feel better about wearing it. Do you think is it appropriate for work too?
Regarding cardigan - well, to be honest I am not into cardigans, I have not bought or wore one in many years. I purged all but tree that I keep just in case but never wear. I saw somewhere midi skirt styled with long cardigan and thought of trying that myself but didn’t really like it also:) Is it time to purge my remaining 3 cardigans? They are all 7-10 years old but still in great condition. Or maybe I should start a new post to ask this question?

I really like this skirt and I love it on you! The colours and pattern are gorgeous on you. I especially like the styling in no 1, 2 and 5 - perfection! I also like it with the black blazer. My least favorite is the combo with the long cardi.
No scond thoughts on this skirt Anchie, it is a winner!

As for the cardigans, they are great, especially the black. And the cropped turquoise will be right on trend. Maybe an outfit lab before you decide? They seem to be such versatile pieces.....

Katerina - thank you so much. Re cardigans - you are right about black, it is very classic and great for traveling - packs much better than a blazer - I should keep it. Gray long one I think I will give to DD - she already borrowed it few times and loves it. Turquoise one I am most uncertain what to do. I adore the color but it is a real orphan - can’t even show it to you because I don’t have anything to wear with.

How about just combine with some neutrals - white jeans, black pants, tan pants, beige ..... Do you have any scarf which would pick up the colour? You could try to wear it open with a long scarf.... Or how about a yellow scarf - inspired by Angie? Or a pencil skirt to create a retro fifties vibe....
Don’t mean to push, but I really like the cardi and I have seen some cropped cardis when I was browsing trends for 2019...

Turquoise cardigan is really retro 50s , very cropped and fitted, I feel sexy secretary in it LOL. But because it is so cropped it doesn’t go well with pants, even high waisted. I used to wear it over summer dresses to protect from AC but don’t have any of those dresses any more, and my current ones don’t work. I do have few scarves that go with it, silhouette is my issue:)

Definitely keep! #1 is my favorite since the top is more fitted, but I like all but #6 too. Long flowy skirts have always been easiest for me in the summer, with fitted sleeveless or halter tops to balance the volume on the bottom.
