Style evolution

I know my style has changed in the last year. Definitely less of an hard edge. I'm not chasing every trend that comes down the pipe.
But I'm still having some style insecurity. I'm still debating the fireworks moto, even though Angie gave it a Killer rating.
I want to pare down a bit, become more focused. Currently I don't have a vision of an end result. I'm not trying to achieve closet nirvana, because I think that's impossible for me. I would just like to be a bit more settled.
Thoughts, insights?

Do you do the Pinterest thing? I recently cut up the Sept. People Style Watch mag and pasted it all together. Pinterest is an easier way to do just that.
I found by putting all of it together, certain patterns emerged.

Anna, I think I'm like you in that I'm constantly seized by longing for whatever is around the corner. One thing that might help is to think about whether pieces you're getting will work with several outfits, rather than just one standout outfit. I make the mistake of buying something I love and then having to buy a wardrobe around it. Now that I have a couple of killer pieces, I'm more likely to add other items that will work with those existing things. you probably already do this, and as far as I can tell, your wardrobe is composed entirely of killer stuff.

Echoing Mo, Pinterest is also really helping me hone down what I really love - I'm not pinning everything I like, only everything I'd wear. I should have another board for things I like but wouldn't wear, just so I can feel like they are stored somewhere in case I do want to branch out.

Anna, maybe debating the jacket in spite of the much-coveted KILLER rating indicates the opposite of insecurity.

If you're not sure it's you, in spite of assurance from an expert that it looks wonderful, it sounds to me like your vision is clearer than you think.

Hmmm, are you at a crossroads and feeling confused and wanting clarity? Is your goal to try to buy less, or have what you buy be more cohesive/mixable, or something else? Are you feeling stagnant or just like you *should* have more clarity by now? Sorry to ask so many questions, just wondering about specifics before I dive in and miss the mark :).

Anna, I think you'd find it useful to pull together your favourite outfits this year and examine them.

Also, I think you may have reached Nirvana. Nothing to chase can mean that it's all so right. A unique style situation to be in. Personally, I think that Queen Wackadoodle has found her style groove and it feels weird to be so at peace with it.

I will have to put together some of my favorites tonight. That's a great idea.
Jonesy, I do want less, I think. About the only thing I chasing right now is a cream fisherman's sweater.
I think Angie is right and I've found my style groove without even realizing it.
I think my shoecase has helped immediately because it shows the start of so many great outfits.

Well, your shoecase is a work of art, no question! And I can see how it would be so helpful to have a lot of your footwear out. And maybe it helped doing that purge a while back, so now you've pared down your footwear and can see clearly what you have to work with?

Piggybacking on Angie's point, about hitting your style stride: I've been here 2+ years and it seems to me that lately (last few months, especially) every WIW outfit you post is really, really fab. Cohesive, interesting, modern, balanced, *you.* So maybe you have entered that happy zone but it's such a new feeling that you don't even recognize it :)?
