I found an amazing dress I wanted to share with everyone. I am a bridesmaid in a few weddings coming up this season, meaning lots of bridal showers and daytime formal events. I wanted to invest in a great dress I could use for years to come and took a risk with this curve hugging alice and Olivia number. Its definitely tighter than anything else I usually wear but I love how it makes me feel.

I'd love it if everyone took a look and let me know their thoughts? Do you think it is flattering? Worth the hefty $300 price tag? I'm conflicted as to whether to keep it because of its form fitting nature and the price. Though I DO love it!

You *might* be able to find a similar dress for less (I'm thinking Adrianne Pappell), but . . .this one is lovely and flattering

It IS a beautiful dress, but *I* wouldn't be able to wear it out of the house with that back view. At the very least, I'd feel like I was trying to steal the show, which I would NOT want to do as a bridesmaid.

I love the colors, like the overall styling, but the back view crosses the body-con line into something else in my relatively modest and conservative corner of the world.

Very flattering and worth the 300 is that fits your budget.

I don't agree that it's too body con - the bloused top and lack of cleavage take care of that. However, only get this dress if you are comfortable with people checking you out and admiring.

I am never comfortable in this type of dress, because it offers no support to my jiggle-ish bottom half and the back seam highlights the natural dividing line of thy butt. LOL. However, holy dress, it looks great, as long as the bride approves:)

This sure is an amazing dress and you look amazing in it. However, for a bridesmaid, you're going to get the Pippa effect of showing up the bride. Your arse is likely to get its own twitter account, as hers did.

Again, I like the dress. But if you decide it costs too much, look at it this way : it isn't the dress you love so much as your body! You've got that for free and can find all kinds of ways to show it off.

I have to agree with transition here. It is a great dress, but not for the occasions you have mentioned, IMO (bridal showers, anything formal). But perhaps I am too conservative, too.

For the weddings in which I am a bridesmaid I will be wearing a bridesmaid dress that was picked out by the bride. This dress would be for bridal showers, perhaps a rehearsal dinner? Maybe a wedding of which I am just a guest as well.

I vote keep! The colors are lovely with your skin tone, and the shape of the dress hugs your curves very well. I think appropriate for showers, etc. especially as the neckline is modest

This is a very subjective reaction. It's pretty and in the front, almost modest even though it lines your hips snugly. I personally would feel extremely self-conscious about the bootie. It leaves very little to the imagination IMO. But of course your mileage may vary and all that. To me it's a party dress...but not sure if it's an "occasion" dress.

Indeed, that dress is stunning on you! Whether it would work for the occasions (shower, rehearsal dinner) you are thinking of totally depends on the norms in your part of the country. Perhaps you can ask the bride or fellow bridemaids for feedback, or see what they might be wearing.

The dress definitely is very striking on you and shows off your curves to the max - and the colors are beautiful as is the draping in front. So glad to see the feedback here - I sometimes wonder about body con type dresses being appropriate or not too and agree, it depends on the "norm" for where you live, what others would wear, etc. For me, I'd probably also feel a bit too exposed - but then again I'm not really a dress gal.

I would think of that as a date-night dress, not a dress to wear to daytime events with other women. But of course that's subjective and could depend on the norms in your part of the country and in your social group.

I am still so conflicted. Part of me thinks I should keep it because it is very flattering and I simply love the way I feel in it. However for a bridal shower where perhaps the age demographic might be a little older, I don't think this is necessarily appropriate. Your feedback helped confirm that.

I have two weddings coming up that I am not a bridesmaid in where I want to have a little more oomph in my outfit so I am thinking I might keep it for those.

The dress is very flattering and pretty, but on the body-con side, as others have mentioned. Maybe trying a size up would tone down the bod-con aspect that you seem to be uneasy about, Lauren? It is a great dress indeed.

if you feel great in it and the wallet can take it, I think that is enough reason to keep it IMO. It is also a nice dress for a summer date, give it no more thought.

I think it is a matter of deciding whether you have to justify the dress based on the upcoming wedding occasions mostly, or you would wear it other places, like date night or parties.

I'm very conservative re: wedding attire but then have found that a lot of folks are okay with showing a lot of shoulders/ chest or short skirts for young lady wedding guests and so I'm not sure body-con is any different. It's more whether there is too much look at me statement for even a wedding guest and that might well depend on where you fit as a guest. The dress can be de-bombshelled a bit with a longer jacket --not suggesting you buy the dress to cover it up, but that it can be more versatile than just worn as-is, and still enjoy the lovely fresh colors & pattern in some more conservative situations and therefore get more use from it.

So--it's not a LBD in terms of wear all over town for years, but it is a great find, it fits into the buy clothes you love that you feel great and happy in, and you'd have to figure how that fits into your wardrobe plan.

I was just alerted by a reader that this dress is now on sale at aliceandolivia.com. It is $178 down from $300 Incase anyone is interested. Dilemma solved!
