Student Creates Entire Fashion Design Collection via 3 D Printer

I missed getting this in Inge's thread - but talk about a new "thread" concept - printing your clothes via 3D printer may be in the not so distant future. Remember how cool it was when the first laser printers came out way back in the 80's? 3D printing is on a whole new level.

Wow! That is so cool. The resulting outfits are beautiful. I especially like the white two-piece.

I've been waiting for this. It could be an amazing development for zero waste, fully recyclable, made to measure clothing. These don't look terribly practical, but it's early days.

It's not going to stop me sewing though.

wow, imagine the possibilities! it's kind of back to the future, i can see the day where you would "shop" from a designers pattern book, but pick your own fabric/colors, and have the ability to custom fit. just like in the old days before ready-to-wear became, well, ready-to-wear

It IS cool, isn't it? I like the way the striped skirt "flows" and can imagine integrating various materials into the design to create specific effects like that - very dramatic!

I think it's not so practical at this stage (can she sit?) but it is quite beautiful (I also love the white outfit), and in the future with a different kind of extruded material could be great -- especially in that it can be tailored so individually.

thanks for sharing! The movement of the fabric is fantastic. We have some 3-d printers in our arts dept & so maybe this will be some new inspiration!

3D printers are just starting to take shape - before long there will lots of material options - even chocolate is being "printed" into cool edible art.

So cool! I agree that it does not look very practical right now, but with the technology moving so fast these days, who knows what will happen in couple of years. Also love the white outfit.
