Stripes on Stripes Yay / Nay?

It just happens that my striped top and striped jacket "match".

Now I haven't left the house in this! This is just for you

I think this could work with an edgier bottom half? What do you think? Too Matchy Matchy, ridiculous, could work?

It was just an idea so please be honest:)

It's a lot going on but in a way I really like. Keeping the bottom half simple and streamlined is definitely the right idea. Is that the b44 top under the blazer?

I think I like it! First of all that striped jacket is perfect, really one of the best I have seen. I wonder if black bottoms would work better because they would be less distracting- although I do really like those red trousers. Every time I look at it again I like it more, if that helps.

I really like it on you. YOu've kept the bottom half pretty simple so the overall effect is quite interesting. Wear it out and see how you feel in it.

They both seem to go well together but maybe it's a bit too much stripes? I don't know. You always look good no matter what you put on.

I think it depends so much on the viewer. I mentioned this in Citygirls thread but I find too many diagonal strips mixed together very distracting. I really like all of the pieces but for me they are a bit too much together. I am not able to do ALGO though so my opinion is a bit biased.

I would definitely wear that and then see how I felt. If I felt edgy and fab, I'd do it again. If I felt embarrassed and "too much," then I'd retire the look. But it definitely looks interesting and worth the experiment.

I think it's fun! I couldn't wear it myself and it somewhat hurts my eyes (but I had a problem with Jeanne's reptile trench the other night, too, so take my words with a grain of salt!) I also think the optical effect is much stronger on screen than IRL.

I agree with Adelfa. I'd wear and see how it felt.

And also, you really DO look great whatever you put on!

Decidedly brilliant, and I'd absolutely wear it myself --- and I say that as a migraineur with huge issues when it comes to patterns.

OT: Suz is right about patterns doing funny things on-screen, even more than real life. I too had to zoom in on Jeanne's trench in a separate tab at full size to appreciate it, because at first the pop-out from the thumbnail looked like a kaleidoscoping aura!

I had a stripes on stripes outfit that was mostly aproved by the YLF here(pictie nr 7):

but not sure on this one (but I am not really a risky girl at all). I think it has to do with the width, freqvency and colour of the stripes-as here all of these look almost the same, ans so-there is almost no difference between the jacket and the top.
Maybe with a long black shawl hanging in between the too, from neck to hem-to separete...(?)

Thanks for looking. You comments are much appreciated. I was unsure what to expect so pleasantly surprised so many of you quite liked this.

To those who didn't, your thoughts on the combination are valid and certainly make sense.

Sarah, you're not a spanner and I get what you mean.

Shevia, I was also thinking black bottoms and maybe breaking the two sets of stripes up with some red beads.

Dianthus, I am not an ALGO girl and for me this is still relatively streamlined but I get your point:)

Krish, yes I love both these pieces.

Suz, it's not quite as full on visually in real life (unless of course I am kidding myself)

Lyn67 I like the combination you put together, I could try that myself.

I might play around a bit more and I have had a few more ideas today xxx
