I had been eyeing this striped midi skirt for a while (and even longer ago, thinking about getting a striped midi thanks to some Pinterest inspiration pins) before some Nordstrom notes arrived in the mail to coincide with a triple points day. I'm on Team Wear it Now, so I couldn't wait to break it out. The cotton fabric and blue/white horizontal stripes struck me as being a little summery but I paired it with a dark navy/black vertically striped top to try to tone down the white. In summer I'll probably pair it with my white blazer. For now... Perhaps it's still too summery, but it got me out the door to work and I need every ounce of forced motivation I can get these days. (I passed beyond "burnt out" several months ago.)
I must have been feeling rather nautical or patriotic this morning; originally planned to wear my flat oxfords, but forgot about that plan when I was heading out the door and grabbed red patent pumps instead. You can't see it, but I'm also wearing nude microfishnet hose, because I liked the way the pattern/texture complemented the tight weave of the belt.
(Sadly I missed the memo that the weather today would involve a great deal of horizontal rain. It's nasty! Good thing I didn't bus to work today.)
So what's the verdict on the stripe on stripe pattern mixing? Too much or too wacky?
