Striped top and jeans - aka, all the trends ;)

I bought this top this past spring, and it was admittedly a bit of gamble in that it was pretty pricey (in Cdn $) for a trendy top. But.....I just loved it from the moment I tried it on - the cotton lawn fabric is SO soft and luxurious. I have worn it constantly this spring and summer with blue jeans, faded olive khakis or white jeans . I know I'm among the minority here on the forum with my love for a cold-shoulder top, and I know it's a trend but - I still like the look and feel a little prettier in styles like this. So, in all it's maximal glory, here is my interpretation of the look shown in Angie's blog post. Not working today : running errands and loving/appreciating the lower temps (even if the sun is obliterated by smoke from the BC forest fires).

Worn with old, slightly falling-off Pilcro crops, and past-their-trend-date blue suede tie-up sandals. The shoes are another trend I know has seen it's day, but you know, I still LOVE the colour and they are comfortable and in great shape. I also don't worry about things like the leg-shortening effect of wearing crops and tie-wrap sandals - especially in a casual , every-day outfit. I experimented with a pile of bracelets - also not my usual look, but threw a few on that related to one-another in some way and actually don't mind it! Happiness factor in this look? Pretty darn good.

This is beautiful! I love the top with the shoes. The colour of those shoes is just amazing. I don't see this as leg shortening on you at all. And the top itself is so feminine and pretty. Great look! I love the cold shoulder trend and still wear my cold shoulder tops. I also have several pairs of ankle tie shoes that I still wear. I don't live in an area of cutting edge trendiness though so neither trend seems to be going away around here.

Thanks for all the kind and fun comments ! I think my intended message was lost somewhere ....regarding the trendiness ( or not) of certain pieces. The "old me" would have replaced these sandals with something cleaner, (a simple strap and block heel) or with a pointy toe flat, because this look really peaked a year or so ago. But I'm ok with it, because I like it. And same with the cropped flares with the fringe hem - that look has peaked too. But I still like them and they are supremely comfortable . I'm finally listening to my inner voice, and not feeling like I need to upgrade every thing I own every other year or so. Same with the top - all of the trends at once may be eye-roll-worthy , but it makes me happy, I feel cool(temperature wise) and decently pulled together , and I appreciate the quality of the piece itself. It's funny: I bought two pair of block-heeled suede mules (one blush , one black) this summer, and haven't worn either pair more than once (thankfully they were inexpensive) Maybe they'll be a fall look, but they didn't end up being terribly comfortable or easy to walk in, and are resigned to going -out shoes. Kind of a waste of money ....being more concerned with the trend than the reality. Whatever - at least I don't make that mistake with shoes very often

Gorgeous head to toe, very pretty but still sleek and polished. This is an interpretation of cold shoulders that I really like - more subtle and I think it remains stylish but has more longevity than some of those looks. Your hair and make up are lovely as always!

the thing with trends is that they seem to fade out and come back into style later on! Listening to your inner voice takes training, yes? I just purged my closet of a jacket/coat that had a trend sleeve that I absolutely found difficult to wear because the sleeves belled out at 3/4 length. Today, that inner voice said, are ya kidding me? lose it! That cold-shouldered top and those suede lace-ups say a different refrain--love what they do for your happy.

You make stripes look girly. I bought one cold shoulder top when they first came out intending to sew up the open sleeves the next season. It was a mistake to buy one in polyester. It is too warm and not cool and bgreezy6 because of the fabric, so I don't wear it very often Lesson learned.Yours looks cool.

I like cold shoulders too and happily continue to wear them because I think it is a prettier look than sleeveless. I love this blouse, it is the perfect mix of pretty, boho-lite and practical and one of those items that I would be reaching for again and again over the summer months.
Your hair does look amazing and I like Suz's suggestion of a wine on the patio, summer at its best.
