I feel like all I'm doing lately is ordering things and returning them. I might need to lay off the online shopping for a while until I can try some things on in person.
Here are some of the things I've tried and rejected recently, with reviews in case anyone is interested.
Allsaints Liebe dress. Currently on sale. I am really sad to return this, because I love the shape and fabric (it's a 100% cotton shirting fabric with no spandex, hooray), and the fit on the bottom is great but the top is probably 2 sizes too big (both in width and length) which is just too much to alter away. It's less sheath-like IRL - the skirt is a bit more voluminous but still narrow at the bottom. Has anyone seen something in a similar shape and fabrication but more pear friendly? I'm looking for a cotton woven, fit ideally a little looser than the model here.
Vince Camuto side zip pants. Nordstrom lied. They are not mid rise. They are high rise. Gah. I hate high rise pants. They make my butt look huge. Seriously I would rather have muffin top. On the good side, the ankle openings are actually skinny and the fabric is pretty good (cotton, not too much spandex). Sigh. The search for skinny black pants continues. Anyone seen anything lately? I want cotton with only a low percentage of spandex, not skintight but with a slim (ideally around 10") leg opening. And needless to say, NOT HIGH RISE. I think the whole high rise pant trend is going to be making me cranky a lot this season. I've heard good things about the Loft ones, but I think I need to go to a store and try them on since I haven't bought anything there for years.
Commando footless tights. These get so many rave reviews and I needed new footless tights (I MUCH prefer them to tights with feet, particularly with boots). The fabric is nice and the waistband is indeed dig-free. However, it's also HIGH. (sense a theme here?) Like, not just I-don't-like-high-rises high, but really, objectively TOO HIGH. Almost touching my bra band high. Yes, they don't dig but I can still feel them on my ribs, which is really unpleasant. (My rise is a normal length by the way.) Thank goodness Nordies' allows you to return hosiery!
MZ Wallace Chelsea tote in Cosmic print. I really want another laptop tote for days when I don't want to carry my black Longchamp. Normally I love MZ wallace bags, but this one was just too floppy and unstructured. It was visibly distorting in shape when I put my laptop in. It looks so nicely shaped in the pictures but I think they must stuff it really full for the photos because when empty it's a floppy mess.
Also tried a bunch of grey jeans, none of which worked...
