Straight leg pants

My body type isn't loving skinnies (thighs! calves!). I'm wondering if the silhouette of these denim straight leg trousers are enough on trend. Mostly I wear tops out or half tucked... just showing the pant here. The hem circumference is 16.5 inches. I apologize for photo quality!

I really like the new trousers and they seem pretty versatile. I'm not an expert on fit and such things but these look really good to me.

Thanks, Carole. I sew, so this is my version of, maybe, a "boyfriend" or straight leg jean. The wide yoked waistband, I hope, gives a little style. I can wear boots under or over. Is anyone else tired of feeling encased by skinny pants?? On the other hand, I do appreciate the lean silhouette.

Karie, these are the Stylearc (newish indie pattern company out of Australia) Wendy pant. The denim has a bit of stretch.

Asingh, I always wonder about length... but with boots they are about right And I do like a bit of a break... it's a fine line!

I'm impressed that you sewed these. I love the way you have them rolled in #1. I too am sick of feeling encased in skinny jeans.

Yeah, the very skinny only works for me, I've discovered, with very stretchy fabric. I do like the longish top (maybe just to the crotch level), with a shorter more fitted layer over (maybe a cardi or jacket), and I think this look works best over a slim bottom. These pants are my compromise!! I'd also like to try more tucked in shirts like Angie has shown! Hopefully these will work for that look too!

Ginny, thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely experiment with a shorter length, but one still good for boots and rolling.

Thanks Caro and Bionda. I appreciate feedback, especially since it's difficult to be objective when looking in the mirror.
I wore these today rolled with grass green sude oxfords for a bit of edge, a grey t and black cashmere cardi. I felt casual but a bit polished, and was very comfy without resorting to yoga pants... haha! I am hoping this style can stand in for skinnies this fall/winter.

I think these look good. You have a few styling options with them a d they are a refreshing change silhouette wise.

Thanks for your observations everyone. I do like the way this style skims the body rather than squeezes. Unfortunately I can't do heels, but I have my eyes on the Frye Harness 12R. I think they would give straight legs pants a little attitude!
