Tanya, I have a thing for organizers...so I took the liberty of searching for some free standing storage solutions for you. I know that space is an issue, so I looked for things that were compact, yet sturdy and had as much storage, both hanging and folded as possible.

Also, check out Ikeas clothes storage section. Not all of their items are available online--but they do have a brick and mortar in Stoughton. It's not the highest quality--but it sounds like you're in transition and probably don't want to invest in anything really expensive.

Nicole, I am so touched you spent all of this time looking for organizers for me. I am so lucky to have such good (virtual) friends .

What I need to still store (currently in suitcases) are skirts - need to be hanged, jackets/coats that are not full length- need to be hanged too, and purses - need shelves, although I could use extra shelving space to organize other stuff in the better way. The problem is that the maximum depth can be 14", and 12 " would be perfect.

The second one you posted would have been perfect if it weren't for the depth issue. I actually own the third one - it is currently in my closet! It's great, but the closet is too narrow to have two of them on the opposite walls. My jeans are already stored - I don't hang them, they are folded on one shelf of that third organizer. I'll look trough Ikea and see if there's something there.

I'm going to keep looking for something 12 to 14 inches deep. Good thing you're thin--since your clothes aren't too wide to fit in your allotted space! In the meantime, check out this cool rack. If you have a corner, it might work:

Oooh I totally forgot about tension rods. If you have a space to put it, it's a great way to hang clothes w/out drilling any holes into your walls. It would be ideal for your skirts, since they don't weigh all that much.

Nicole, you are incredible! That spiral rack looks very cool, tough I currently do not have space for it. The tension rods might actually work, if I reorganize the closet somehow. Hmm, I'll wait for morning to put my thinking cap on, as Angie would say

Ok now thinking outside the box a little bit...

Since you need to keep the unit 12-14", I think you might need to look at traditional shelving that would allow you to hang clothes on. Wire shelves will let you adjust the height of each shelf, so you could leave a space large enough for your hangables, and position a few shelves on top and bottom for the sturdiness they will provide, plus storage for your bags.

Another idea is an over the toilet etagere (probabaly not spelling that right) Except don't put it over the toilet. If you can find one with a lip or wire shelving, you could hang hangers on that and let them hang where the potty is supposed to be.
