Stop creaking shoes?!!

I paid cash. They're paid for. Why are they all creaky and squeaky?!! Any tips on how to make leather shoes stop creaking? The tongue is rubbing on the sides...

And of course, you can only hear this in our very very quiet office...

Huh. I've had that problem but always with the heels / plastic parts of cheaper shoes, not with the leather parts.

I had a creaky boot issue the other day. Turns out it was the socks I was wearing with the boots - different socks, no issue.

Yes, it's very weird and unexpected. I will check the socks factor and ha! get out the leather conditioner. Never even crossed my mind.

I've used baby powder to de-squeak a leather jacket before - it worked reasonably...

Does anyone have suggestions for how to de-creak the heels / plastic parts of cheaper shoes? I have a pair that I love where one heel seems to creak as I walk.

I had a pair f shoes that creaked. They didn't when I bought them, but they did when I took them out of storage. I tried leather conditioner on them to no avail. I tried baby owner, but be careful with this. I might have used too much and puffed when I walked. I eventually donated them because it drove me bats.

No help, I know. But I was pretty angry as they weren't cheap shoes!

I've had great luck with baby powder but you have to be generous and really work it down into the seams in the insoles. Once I've gotten rid of the squeak, I usually beat the shoes on something (gently, but firmly), to get as much powder as possible out and then walk around the house until I don't leave a cloud of puff behind me at every step. Nothing else I've ever tried has worked and I've only ever tried it on leather shoes, IIRC. Hope this helps.

If the conditioner doesn't work, I would take them to a cobbler.

I had a case once where one of my boots was making a funny noise when I walked. It turned out to be something with the shank, and the cobbler had to pound a tack into the sole of the boot, near the heel. That fixed the problem. But those boots were brand-new too.
