My mouth has been watering over some of the new shoe trends for fall. Those stompy lace-up boots, the still everpresent suede Chelsea boots, flatforms and heeled oxfords, even the hint at a return of tall boots … I’m loving it all. But some order-and-returns and the resulting time for reflection has clarified a thing or two for me:
I don’t need another pair of suede or nubuck shoes. I have one, and they are a pain to keep clean.
Ditto for white shoes. Like the look, loathe the cleaning. And I’m just not going RATE anytime soon.
4 cm block heels used to be the thing for me. Still flattering, but I just much prefer flats these days. So I really shouldn’t let myself be tempted into another pair of heeled booties again!
Otoh I’ll prefer refined on myself over chunky 99% of the time.
My last shopping mistake also made it clear to me that I need to watch out for painful ankles in narrow shaft booties (especially lace-ups as they are truly tightened around the ankle).
Another comfort issue: I need a wide-ish toebox.
Then I found these black lace-ups (side zippers AND elastic pannel means very good for my ankles) and I knew they were just right for me. Thank god they're also very comfortable. Some quick snaps showing two possible trousers based outfits, but I plan to wear with bootcut jeans and under dresses too.
Yippie for refined chunky!
