Still on the hunt for black boots...

A friend's teen daughter actually gave me a pair of Steve Maddens, UNWORN, that she got at the NAS last year. They are adorable but have a distressed look unsuitable for work. I am now eying these, although they don't ship till October:

The Timberlands just had too high a heel for me after I wore them around for a while. My ankles just can't handle it and my arches start to hurt. I didn't bother sizing up and I think I'm going to stick to 2.5 or under unless there is a true platform.

The Timberlands had similar measurements, if the sites can be believed. I think I have a long ankle-to-knee measurement because 15" has not been too tall so far. I am going to give them a try, although waiting till October is a bit annoying. On the other hand, I have boots a-plenty in the meantime!

Mo, the Timberlands really hurt my ankles at that angle - I always think I can wear a higher heel than I really can.

Those Bandolinos are lovely, but I find the brand to run narrow if that is a concern for you. I'd keep an eye on them and you have until October to find something else. My foot is not a true wide but some brands I just have to avoid because I've never had luck with them.

Have you checked to see if Aquatalia is doing lower-heeled boots? Their stretch shafts are perfect for narrow calves.

C1, I know you've recommended those before! Two questions - how does the suede hold up over time? And does that big button create any issues if you are wearing them under a long skirt or pants in terms of catching or being bulky? They look fab and they get amazing reviews!

ETA: THREE questions! What is the heel height? Zappos say 2" but some reviewers said it was 2.75"!

ETAA: Well, these don't seem to be available anywhere in my size (6M or 5.5W)... grrrr!

Una: LC treats the suede so it actually holds up pretty well (i.e. even after wearing it 10 or so times, during a very snowy winter, it looks essentially new). I never wore them under pants, but the great thing about these boots is that they fit really close to the calf (I couldn't wear skinnies with these). I think the heel is about 2 inches.

The foot is pretty narrow, though.
