Still in London - an update and a comeback

Hello to all of you!
10 months have passed since I last updated you guys on my life (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ondon-life). Things are still looking good, which still surprises me every time I think about it. This past year has probably been the best year of my life - ever. It's not perfect - nothing ever is - but it's just been very, very, very exciting.

On a professional level, I'm working for a London tech startup as their content editor - I've seen this company grow so much in so little time, and I think the fast-pace environment and daily challenges suit my personality. I've been with them for ten months, and I've learned more with them than with all the other companies I've worked for in the past put together.

On a personal level, I'm currently living with the special person I met just about a year ago. He's just great, and I think we make a really strong team.

Fashion-wise... that's where I'm struggling the most! (ok,maybe that's an exaggeration, but you get the idea).
Basically, I've gone from dressing rather well and fashionably (or so I liked to think) to dressing reasonably well, then to dressing okei-sh... and now I'm bordering on drab, and even out of trend. To be honest, I've lost my fashion mojo, and I dislike shopping in London as it's stressful and quite expensive (I work in Covent Garden and live five minutes off Westfields, so Londoners will understand how easy it would be for me to shop - but I can't find the energy to do it). To top it off, my office is mostly male, and even though many of the women in my office do follow the trends, my closest female colleague probably owns less clothing items than I do, so I don't feel the pressure to renovate (NOTE: this has helped my saving, so it's not too bad).

I mostly buy replacement items, wardrobe staples and bras (and a pair of shoes, the other day), but for the first time in forever I think my wardrobe as a whole needs some refreshing, so I will be annoying you with Keep or Toss posts in the near future to decide what I should just get rid of (for many items I have a clear idea of what's it gonna be).

So, yeah, hopefully I'll be back Look forward to seeing you again, and to meeting all the 'newbies'!

Irene! So lovely to see you post. I haven't been active much lately, but I just had to logg in when I saw you had posted. I'm happy to hear you're doing well! Good to hear London has worked out for you, and about the job and your special someone. You look fantastic!

I'm in the same boat as you, mostly shopping for necessities and replacements lately. I'm trying to work on my spring and summer wardrobe, but I haven't been very successful so far. Although I managed to buy a great bikini for the summer, so at least I'm adequately supplied in that department. I have four pair of shorts on order right now, I really hope that one pair finally works out. I've also been looking for dresses, but no luck so far. I can totally relate to not enjoying to shop in the big city, btw. Before Easter I had my mum, sister and her Canadian exchange student as visitors and of course she wanted to shop in Berlin! I don't think we had ever spent so much time shopping on a visit before. They had to borrow an additional bag of mine for the trip back and I was the only one who managed to not buy one single thing in the three days...

I think it's typical for people to go through cycles in terms of fashion. Look forward to the keep/toss posts.

Hi Irene! Good to hear you've settled into London life! It sounds crazy, but I think it's very easy to go drab living in a city. Things as basic as grocery shopping can be Herculean tasks.

Totally OT, is there a crepe shop anymore in Covent Garden?

I remember your post about your move to London, and thinking how brave you were to make that leap in the dark.
I'm so pleased that your life has rounded out so well, and you are happily settled into work and in a relationship. No wonder fashion has taken a bit of a back seat after all the changes you've made.
Anyway, it's really good to see you back looking so well and happy.

Hi Irene I remember you as well. I remember your journey cause I was struggling also. I'm glad your back and doing well in your work/personal life. You'll get your mojo back with fashion. It's an ebb and flow like life.

Great to see you and to get an update! I remember when you were planning the move too, and I was a little envious of the adventure, although I know it was also nerve-wracking. I'm so glad you've built your life there and are happy! I agree that sometimes style takes a backseat and we go through ebbs and flows -- perhaps the fact that you are popping back in means a shift is on the horizon. Looking forward to seeing you more!
