OK girls - here's the report: These are beautiful boots - deep, rich cognac or black - soft, soft leather - the "buttons" are shiny gold and the snap-strap at the top is perfect. I tried them on and they are very comfy - I started wanting a pair myself and had to keep saying over and over "You don't need cognac boots - you don't need cognac boots!"
The specifics: I forgot my tape-measure and they didn't have one in the store, so some of this is a guesstimate. I am 5' 4 and 3/4" tall - measurement from ankle bone to bottom of knee is approximately 13 and 1/2" - these boots hit me about 1 1/2" below the very bottom of my knee. They fit fine in the largest part of my calf - which is a little over 13" - but they gaped at the very top - probably gaped around 1 1/2" - enough that even if I needed cognac boots, I would not have bought these.
