Stepmother of the groom dress -- the latest

I still really like the Reiss dress you linked to on the other thread. A solid dress in some shade of teal - basically a deeper version of the bridesmaid color would be beautiful on you.

I'd probably have to get the sleeves altered if it worked. Sleeves that length with a high neckline look horrible on me -- too much broadness across the bust. Is it too busy?

Ooh I like the Bailey sheath dress. I was thinking teal would be a good color. I just had to find a teal dress for a matron of honor dress and it really difficult to find many choices in the color though. Nordstrom didn't have a whole lot.

Columbine, I'm not sure how that neckline will work on me. Could be bad on a big bust, but the slight cap sleeves sometimes work really well on me to emphasize the shoulder. It appeared to be low in stock so I figured I'd grab it to try.

I might have to try the Black Halo one from Shopbop too. I had one BH dress that sadly I never got to wear before I "grew out of" it. I think they cut small, so I ordered a size up from my normal. I have a little credit at Shopbop too so that helps.

I thought that was pretty, too. Maybe a little too dressy/evening-ish? I am also a little worried the Black Halo dress might lean that way too since it seems to have some sheen to it. It's so hard to tell from photos.

I get that concern that it might be too evening-ish. There are a few more teal dresses now than when I was looking so that's good.

This was my matron of honor dress, just for kicks. In teal. Definitely veered green on the green-blue continuum. Photographed well.

Funny, I've been eyeing that BH dress for my DH's sister's wedding. BH is cut small, and I found the size 8 Kento to be much too small. I usually wear 30 in denim.

Ok, I've officially started the shopping! Ordered both the Black Halo and the Kut dresses to try. I showed the pics to my husband and he approves. We'll see if the teal lace approach works...

Now I think we may have to shop for a suit for my husband, too.

The J.Crew bridesmaid dresses and the mob dress seem very preppy to me...I don't know the backstory, do you think that's what the vibe will be for the wedding? If so, as beautiful as the teal lace is, it might feel overdressed.

Angie, I beat you to it on the Black Halo dress. It's on the way.

The LK Bennet dresses look really nice -- I've never tried on that brand, or ever even seen it in stores near me. But I'm not a fan of that sleeve length on me (maybe because they don't play well with my bustline and shortwaistedness?), and I suspect that's an integral part of the style. They look beautifully tailored and nice colors though. I also think that I'll probably want as little sleeve as possible in the heat of a mid-Atlantic August.

Chiming in to agree with Thirkellgirl. I apologize for just popping in, and admit to not having really followed this thread before (congratulations!), but the mother of the bride dress did give me pause. It does seem very-garden-partyish...and the two dresses *are* preppy. Is that a direction you are not interested in going? I know it's not your style and you will no doubt look smashing as usual no matter what you wear. But I wonder if cohesiveness is important to the bride, at least for the photos. Food for thought, and I look forward to seeing you stylishly navigate this new chapter in your life, Janet. Most of us are all heading there eventually
