A lot of the US is getting some very cold temperatures coming up, on the heels of a major storm. We are expected to get about a foot of snow in about 8 hours tonight, and after that, the temperatures will drop. On Wednesday, we're expected to have a high temperature of -18F (about -28 C), not including wind chill. It will be brutally, dangerously cold.
I'm actually not complaining, as we haven't had much snow to speak of for several years. The temperatures last year were always closer to being just above freezing, which led to a lot of freezing rain which then cleared up and left us with no snow on the ground. While we did not have a white Christmas, we are making up for it now. We just had about 8" of snow and we ought to get even more tonight. Almost every school - including the big public schools and universities and colleges - is closed tomorrow, and many government buildings are, too. Even the malls in the cities closest to where we live are delaying opening tomorrow due to the snow.
So if you're in line for this storm and blast of cold weather coming up, stay safe and stay warm!
