LONGER SKIRTS LENGTHS. I noted that yesterday in my other thread.

Now if retail would *please* adhere to this trend.

To be clear, I don't want all skirts to be longer - I just want there be an assortment of lengths so that there is something for everyone. Most skirts have been way above the knee for too long - and I'm only 5ft 6. It should NOT be so hard to find a knee length or midi skirt.

I think there has been a greater diversity of skirt lengths available in the UK for the past couple of seasons, yes the retailers which skew to a teenage market continue to stock the mini but the buying public (teens) has largely ignored them in favour of shorts.

I think for this reason my eye continues to be drawn to the shorter length of skirts in the mix at NYFW (particularly when combined with an oversized jacket.) This is why I am so happy to have others interpret the trends in a bite size digestible way and is another reason why I LOVE YLF.

I am dying for woven, waist length - with those two little splits at front side bottom - darted, structured blouses/shells. Some sleeve just fine and dandy. In other words, NO blousiness. Might just have to - gasp - sew.

I am completely up to date - just watched another 20 shows - and at NYFW, skirts are looking longer. THANK GOODNESS. Faves so far, Juicy Couture, Rachel Comey, Creatures of the Wind, Tibi, Kenneth Cole, Rebecca Taylor, Alexander Wang and Altuzarra. Altuzarra is absolute best so far.

Amen to longer skirts! If average height women have problems finding skirts which are not mini you can imagine what is it for us tall gals

This is good news. Although I can occasionally find a skirt long enough, (and there are few choices) it's been a long time since I have been able to find a dress that would reach the top of my knees. So many times I have been disappointed by something that looks like it might work, but when I try it on, I find I would be embarrassed to sit down in it.

It also irks me when online stores don't give skirt and dress lengths in the descriptions.

Well at only 5'1", it's pretty hard for a skirt to be too short on me (although it occasionally happens) but I am incredibly happy for all your lovely taller, long-legged lasses. Now hurry up you retail stores!!!

Hearing you loud and clear Angie. It's about time skirts became longer than a few inches! It's ok if you're under18. I'm lucky that I can sew my own if I want to:)
It's true though, there has been a bit more choice in th UK but now it would be nice if it filtered through to all international high street stores. Fingers crossed eh?

The shorter length skirts are fine if you are younger and not Ina professional setting. Another reason trousers were so popular in the office! I hope retail catches wind of the change and starts stocking longer lengths.

I know, I'm panicking over dress.for wedding still. Have returned 5 and found none in local stores. The stated lengths are I guess for size 8,so evaporates in my size even in the few that purport to be knee length. Have started keeping my eye out for a full-length that could be shortened but most of those are too formal in style.

Who's buying the short dresses? I guess I thought us baby boomers would influence the market, but it seems not.
