Starring... The slut dress

The one I can't return. Maybe I can make it work with some spanx? And taking up the straps a little bit for extra hoist on the momboobs? Also try to picture with heels, of course.

3 - Side shot with me daring to exhale. Funny thing is, I have a sixpack! I mean, if I lean back in the right light, anyway. And yet the baby pouch lingers - at least in this dress. Alas, the boy loves flat tummies so if I'm going to get the desired response from this dress I may need some help from science.

What do you think, can I make it work? It's a pretty cool dress.

not sure it's your best. may need chicken filets to lift up the girls and spanx to flatten the tum.

I love me a super tight dress, but this looks a lot like an undergarment to me. Body con is easiest to do when the material is thick and doesn't actually stretch much - it should act like a corset or support garment, and hold everything in and up.

*About the 6pack/tummy conundrum, how's your flexibility? Tight hip flexors can alter your posture just enough that you can look like you have a tummy when you know there shouldn't be one - even though you're standing up straight.

The only thing that I'm concerned about spanx is that the dress is so body con the the lines of the shapewear will show.
ETA I'm jealous you can fit into a VPL dress. I've always wanted one of their tops & they stop at a size 8. I need a 10.

I like the idea of a tight, ahem, slut dress, but not totally sold on this as being the one. I get that you're stuck with it. Bummer. I'd love to see a Herve Leger style bandage dress on you.

I'm with Mo. I think *you* look fantastic. The dress is simply not the best for your body. Honestly, I have a very different body type from you, pretty much the opposite in every way, and I doubt it would work on me either! (My boobs would be spilling out, not a great look either.)

But if you want to try to make the best of it, try some Spanx. I have a bodycon dress that is for a similar purpose and Spanx really help, but for me it's reining in the saddlebags, sigh.

First of all, congratulations on your awesome body- you are really in shape, and it shows!

Don't feel bad about a little bit of post-pregnancy belly. Sometimes all the diet and exercise in the world will not completely eradicate it. A lot of men love a little bit of feminine rounding on a slim belly, but if yours is not in that camp, Spanx can be your friend.

Actually, all those celebrities in their tight little dresses that you see in the tabloids have plenty of behind-the-scenes help even though they already have amazing figures, so why shouldn't you? There is a time and a place for technology, and this is it.

I have to agree that there are undoubtedly a lot of dresses out there that would be better designed for your body, but if you want to make this one work I think that's what you'll need to do.

I don't like this dress all that much on you, Dana. I can't imagine who it would flatter, if it doesn't work on your newly sculpted bod. (I have way more of a gut than that!) To me, wearing Spanx would take away from what you are wanting to show your guy (this is ALL me!), and plus it's not the most conducive to a hot post-date encounter when you are stuck in your underpinnings, as I am in shapewear!

Just to be candid, I get the idea of a "slut" dress, but it's another term I dislike, even reclaimed and in the context you intend.

If I could return this I would! It's just too hard IMO. And really? I'll probably never get an occasion to wear it anyway. :/

Can you consign it? A high end consignment store will get the price. Or can you save it for wearing for your husband in the house? Was your goal to go out and about in it with him?

I think you will look super-hot in this dress with the right shoes, stockings and bra. What about a pair of sheer black or patterned stockings with a support tummy? One that comes high so there is no line at your waist. You don't need much support. You will probably wear a wrap/jacket when out, when you sit down you take your jacket off and don't need so worry so much about tummy profile. Also stockings are easier to take off and you have one really smooth line. And the stockings add some modesty as well as not as much skin is showing.

But I don't think this dress does it justice. Can you make it work? Possibly. And it might be worth the effort given that you're stuck with it. But I would also be on the lookout for a truly flattering sexy dress if a sexy dress is what you want.

AG - I paid $140 for this dress and there is no way I'd get that back from consigning. So, it's make a fuss with Visa to return it, or make it work!

It is NOT your body - you have a gorgeous figure!
I think the dress just doesn't have enough structure to make up for the body-conscious fit, and is just going to exaggerate anything resembling a curve or bump.
If possible, I'd still try to see if you can return it by working with your credit card company since you have written confirmation from the boutique that the dress should have been eligible to return.
My take is that if this is meant to be a sexy, date night dress, then YOU need to feel sexy and confident and comfortable in it, and spending your date night worrying about a dress that fights with your figure defeats the intent.

Also, I want to say that I feel your annoyance at this. I have a similarly non-boobalicious figure (actually, in my case, it is more extreme) and this can make even the firmest abs look as if they stick out!

I think the angle you are standing in to take the photos is partly causing the tum issues. I also believe a push up bra, shortening the straps and adding heels would give the dress the desired oomph.

I think the spanx would be useful to try. I'm not sure what kind of bra you'd be wearing, but what about one of those adhesive cup things.

IK - lol, I understand that it's supposed to look like lingerie, but when I've seen the insertion or hip dresses worn in real life, it actually looked like a dress meant to look like lingerie, rather than a piece of lingerie being used as a dress. So the question is, how can we make this piece - which would already be pretty sexy in the bedroom - appropriate for outside the house. The suggestions here sound like good ones, you just need to try them all and see what happens (and post pics!). If it still doesn't work after spanx, a stick on bra, hose, jewellery, heels, and a jacket - then maybe you write it off as really fancy lingerie? Though eBay might recoup your costs - which I think we will all demand that you use to invest in a smokin' bandage dress!!!

I hope Visa gives you your money back, because I'm just in disgusted awe of the customer service you got.
You have a great body, and I would love to see if any of the suggestions make this dress work better. But honestly, I hope you try something else that lives up to your figure.
