Star Ling boots - keep or return?

I finally got my Star Ling boots:

DH *hates* them with this dress.... thinks they make my legs look stocky and stumpified. I explained that they are meant to be worn with skinny jeans (I just wanted to take a photo last night while we had the camera out). He's still dubious about them. I explained they are supposed to soften and scrunch down.

I then attempted to scrunch them down like this:

He's still not sure.... so I leave it to YLF vote.

My take:

I *LOVE* the color. And, the boots are *amazingly* comfortable!!! I could see myself wearing these often, and walking all over town in them, with very happy feet. So I am inclined to get them to work somehow.

But, since I'm short, I do worry that even with all the scrunching in the world, they may still be too high for my short leg??

I *love* them on you, Jennifer! But I don’t want DH to have an apoplexy (poor bloke). So it’s your call. Do you think you can swing a picture with a skinnies ensemble and add leggings to the skirt outfit? Do you think hubby would prefer the boots that way?

Yeah, it's weird, because DH rarely has opinions about what I wear. His only requirement is that I wear flat, comfortable shoes I can walk in - so I thought he'd be thrilled with these boots! When he does have particularly strong opinions, I have to listen. Doesn't mean I bend to his opinion - I am free to wear what I want! (And that goes both ways in our relationship, ahem!)

Soooo..... if Angie gives them the Killer rating, then that is enough for me! Because I love them.

I will figure out how to style them with leggings/skinnies. I really don't think I'd wear the boots with this dress anyway... but.... while uploading the pics this morning, I have to admit, the combo is oddly growing on me.....

I think your DH needs to get used to the length!

I don't think your legs look stumpy at all! They look great on you and I love the color. I also love how comfy they are. I'm still training mine to scrunch

I like them on you. I like the color too. I didn't think I would like that color so I got black, now I'm sort of regretting it, especially since I just bought a pair of black Frye boots on half price sale at Endless, that hit at mid calf.

I don't care for where they hit you on your calf. I don't think it makes you look stumpy or anything, I just think that's sort of an awkward length for anyone, at any height. Somehow I feel they would work better over skinnies.

Hmm. On the one hand I think the color is amazing, and I get the appeal of a flat scrunchy style boot. But I haven't yet seen them look right on anyone. To me, it's almost like the reverse problem with cropped pants and capris; the boot seems to end at the widest part of the calf and it looks like the leg is bursting out of them strangely. I had the same reaction to seeing them oN Dani too so I don't think it's your height.

But everyone else seems to live them so maybe it's just something I am not seeing. Wouldn't be the first time a trend didn't appeal to
me, so don't put too much stock into my opinion.

It’s a question of eye adjustment: promise. When I first posted this style I warned everyone! I’ve been seeing scrunched boots worn this way, (and with skinnies), for over 2 years. To me, it *does* work.

Shiny, a slightly shorter frock with these boots will look even better because your legs will look longer that way – more skin. Know what I mean, jellybean?

I'm very much a newbie at this - but I really like those boots - especially the colour. I think they'll look great with skinny jeans/pants.
