Hands up, how many of you will judge your recent sales purchases or head to the nearest store/ website to hunt down the latest trends based on Angie's blog today?

I recently read through Vogue's spring trend guide and then ordered two sales items

The first is this boden skirt, which taps into the a-line trend as well as brights

I plan to wear the skirt with grey hose through the rest of winter before adding white and turquoise/ lavender through Edinburgh's mild summers. I think this could be a good buy (hope it fits)
The second purchase probably goes against the trend guides. Ben surprised me with the pearl necklace below and I wanted a simple modern top to highlight the necklace. I know the tank will go with jeans and charcoal/ black bottoms plus Chanel's S/S was laden with charcoal pieces but I will still probably return this item for something more on trend. Shallow? Fickle? I will let you decide.
So over to you, did you shop the sales with transitioning to spring in mind? Has this led to orphans in the past? Do you prefer to shop for the here and now?
